4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: MAR 11, 2012 Smokey aroma, like the end of a cigarette with chocolate. Straight up black in color with tan-brown head. Very smooth with strong smokey, chocolate and coffee tones. An intense beer and deceptive considering the ABV!
Notes: On tap at the Alvinne CBF í11, at the Schoolhouse and Borefts BF

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Dark brown colour almost black with a minimal and quickly dissipating beige head. Aroma has notes of toasted malts, light caramel notes, hints of caffee and toffee, ripe fruits and plumbs. Flavor is strong bourbon, notes of wood, slightly sweet with a mild bitterness in the final, red and blue berries are also present. Creamy, dense and smooth mouthfeel on palate, with a high viscousity.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle - Thanks for sharing, Corbett! Pours thick, viscous, chunky motor oil sludge. Aroma is big, chocolate, fudge. Intense. Taste: Alcohol booziness obviously, but covered as well as could be expected for 26% abv. Smoky, rich, intense; chocolate, roasty, just a bit of oxidation. Texture is chunky. Fucking chunky. Thick, viscous, full body. Lingering heat in the finish. Iím smitten, but this is to be sipped only in small quantities. Like a chocolate fudgecicle spirit. Hardcore. Too bad itís so chunky.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750mL bottle, split 6 ways, pours a thick-as-hell motor oil black with a small brown head - thick as fuck. Aroma is dark as hell, with loads of syrupy chocolate, bourbon barrels, vanilla and a touch of alcohol. Flavour brings out loads of burnt roasted malt, moderate bourbon barrels, a little vanilla and obvious alcohol, though doesnít seem anywhere close to 26%. This is the thickest, most viscous beer Iíve ever had. Though the sweetness is surprisingly very low - very dry actually. Very woody, burnt and dry. Finishes woody and moderately (for 26%) alcoholic. Surprisingly excellent. An elegant treat.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle share. Thanks Simon! Deep brown and ruby highlights. Gritty, brown lace. Not "cap lace". Iím talking brown cream lacing. Aroma is heavy cherry, vanilla, bourbon, wood. Taste is so much bourbon, cherry, raisin, more bourbon, chocolate, wood, chocolate wood, bourbon soaked wood, licorice. For the ABV, this is so smooth. So creamy and dry. When it poured, it looked like a lazy cumming from the devils dink.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours pitch black with an orangey brown head. Big chocolate, vanilla and coffee aroma. A hint of bourbon oak. Taste is huge chocolate and vanilla, lots of oak and quite a peppery sweetness from the booze. Warms the mouth. Lots of floaties. Lingering oaky vanilla with dry chocolate aftertaste. Concealed booze, 3 sips was enough though.

4.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Shared at Mitchís Stout off. Pours pure black with almost no head. With a bit of swirl you get a dark sinisterly looking head which looks the goods. Nose is a little subdued and shows a heap of sweet booze and vanilla with not much else going on. Disappointing at first. Taste is another story. Very sweet vanilla, with heavy dark fruits and raw powdered bittering chocolate. Stewed raisin comes to mind with heavy wood and grassy undertones. Some spice and pepper kick in nicely. Palate is seriously superb for a 26% beer. Genuinely surprised. One of the creamiest beers Iíve had to date with some heavy but balanced sweetness and a lengthy soft bitter finish. Goes on forever. The nose was a let down but the rest of the beer is seriously good. Very well done although I donít think it needs to be released in a 750ml bottle
