On tap @ BBF. The aroma is quite strong and has coffee, some chocolate, overripe fruits. Black coloured beer with a beige-brown, thin head. The taste feels very thick and strong. It is quite sweet, has some bitterness, strong roasted malty coffeee and chocolate flavours, with some pruny overripe fruitiness. Very full and powerfull. Yet, good balance, amazing stuff.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Holy (817) - GERMANY - DEC 26, 2011
Somehow missed reviewing this one after BBF 2011 - could have been a little tipsy... The thing that makes this such an interesting beer is the way it hides the alcohol behind the standard thick black coffee punch in the mouth. This is yet another great beer from Struise.

Aroma of licorice and peat smoke with a touch of dried fruit. Thick and sweet licorice and smoked flavour with intensely hot alcohol, yet still a certain elegance. A bit of bitterness in the finish
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 Jaksmart (357) - Aalborg, DENMARK - NOV 4, 2011
Tap @ BBF. If this was not such a delicious and interesting beer, I’m fairly sure you could pour a couple of bottles of this in your truck and drive for the rest of eternity on its energy. Such colossal thickness, richness and potency! Black as the darkest nights! Aroma has a million tonnes of roasted malts, whisky, booze, chocolate, coffee, tar, campfire, ash, coal mine, espresso, burnt branches, forest fire and the apocalypse. Taste is exceedingly bitter from all the roasted malts, liquified into something that is neither liquid nor solid. More sick than enjoyable and yet strangely beguiling.
