COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black Mess was processed the double icebock way to proceed to 39% of Abv. This ale still drinks as a real beer, containing carbonation and a nice rocky head, the alcohol is very well hidden.

Sample at Borefts Beer Festival 2011. Pours a pitch black beer with a chocolate head. The aroma is malt, roasted, smoke and peat. The flavor follows the nose with additonal licorice and chocolate. The palate is sweetness and alcoholwarmth. Overall a good beer.

UPDATED: DEC 15, 2011 RBESG August 2011, Craft Beer Co - and Boreft Beer Festival 2011. Same numbers both times. Jet black with a lasting tan head. Aroma of licorice and peat smoke with a touch of dried fruit. Thick and sweet licorice and smoked flavour with intensely hot alcohol, yet still a certain elegance. A bit of bitterness in the finish

Tap @ BBF. If this was not such a delicious and interesting beer, I’m fairly sure you could pour a couple of bottles of this in your truck and drive for the rest of eternity on its energy. Such colossal thickness, richness and potency! Black as the darkest nights! Aroma has a million tonnes of roasted malts, whisky, booze, chocolate, coffee, tar, campfire, ash, coal mine, espresso, burnt branches, forest fire and the apocalypse. Taste is exceedingly bitter from all the roasted malts, liquified into something that is neither liquid nor solid. More sick than enjoyable and yet strangely beguiling.

Black beer, nice brown head, fading quickly. Relatively mild aroma, coffee, slight chocolate, big malts profile, earth, dark fruits, slight hops. Quite alcoholic, but not overly so. Sweetish flavour, liquorice, malts, whisky, light hops. Dry bitter bit alcoholic ending. Overall hefty, but still nice flavours, and very drinkable.

Countbeer (4425) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - OCT 4, 2011
Draught @ BBF’11: Brown head on top of a black beer. Smell medicine, elastoplast and a hint of roasted malts and spices. Taste is way better than smell, really spicy, roasted malts, warm, coal, smokey, burned wood, tar and liquorice. Good and firm bitter aftertaste of liquorice Low to medium carbo, soft creamy mouthfeel, full body and a creamy texture. Heavy spicy taste but well balanced. They hid the alcohol very well!
