[9/19/15] Draught at the brewery in Oostvleteren. Black with a tan head. Boozy aroma with roast, coffee, chocolate, licorice. Sweet flavor with roast, coffee, chocolate, fruits, licorice, bitter finish, and some booziness. Pretty full-bodied. Decent but somewhat over the top.

Bottle, bought @Etre Gourmet. Pours deep opaque black with a large, creamy beige head. Aroma has sweet malts, licorice, chocolate, citrus, light soy. Medium carbonation, fine dry and quite creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has vinious notes, coffee, cocoa powder, nutmeg, chocolate, light oak. Firm bitterness from both hops and dark malts. The kind of black ipa, which should be a stout.

Pagar 35 euros por una black ipa normalita me parece un auténtico robo. Aroma a lúpulo café y carne. Sabor café y lúpulo no muy compleja. Buena presencia y carbonatacion

Full-bodied stout with a nice hoppy finish. Don't let it age too much in the cellar or the hoppy finish will vanish. So fine with dark chocolate

Finally got his one in my stomach. Decent blend between the Black Albert & Elliot Brew. Nice hoppy beer, and a good black IPA.

On tap. Lots of coffee, roasted cereal, some oak, bourbon. Lots of sweetness. For a black ipa the hops don’t come throw so much. A great brew, very complex but maybe a bit too low on hops for the style.

UPDATED: JUN 20, 2015 75cl bottle, served in tulip glass. Pours black with 2 fingers of beige head. Chocolate and sweet malts aroma, some coffee notes as well. Similar taste with substantial bourbon added, sweet overall but not too much thanks to the hops. Finish is sweet, it should be more dry in a Black IPA. Medium/low carbonation. Interesting experiment, it was to be expected that this wouldn’t be a regular Black IPA, even though some things are improvable.

Shared 75cl bottle from bierkoning, amsterdam. Body is pitch black, head is medium, brownish, creamy, mostly lasting, excellent lacing. Nose is bourbon, flavor is chocolate, dark roasted coffee, vanilla, light liqueur, licorice, ash. Light sweet, heavy roasty bitter. Finish is long lasting roasty bitter, slightly liqueurish, alcohol is well hidden. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Excellent dessert beer.
