4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 PriorL (309) - BELGIUM - APR 30, 2013
Rating #200 for this amazing beer!
Sample at ’het Schooltje’ Oostvleteren. I always imagine that the quality of the beer deteriorates a little because it’s kept for a longer time in the ’tap trailer’. Though amazing idea!
Appearance: pitch black beer, beige small stable head.
Nose: bourbon, alcoholic, chocolate, heave taste.
Taste: lots of alcohol, very sweet, chocolate, coffee aftertaste, wood, red fruits. Little dry.

Amazing beer. Very nice black color and super aroma. Dark fruites, malts, hops and alcohol...all make a perfect beer.

Pours a pitch black color with a great dark brown head. Smells of dark fruits, bourbon, spent coffee, cocoa. Taste is super complex... Raisin, chocolate, a bit of alcohol, a little bitterness. Fantastic.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 dudebun (106) - GERMANY - APR 21, 2013
Licorice, caramelly, cocoa aroma. Darker than a mofo, beautiful big dark brown head if you pour from a height straight into the glass. Great carbonation, one of my favorite things about Struise. And the bourbon is there but not overpowering, nor is the alcohol noticeable at all. Magical beer. If you ever see it, buy it.

Bouteille 330ml (2011).

Bottle 33cl from Allen many thanks. A deep dark beer with medium brown head. Nose is very roasted with prune and oxidized touch, wood and vanilla, very engaging. Aroma is a creamy dark chocolate dream with red fruit and cherry body, roasted, leather and caramel notes, vanilla, wood, prune, fig, dry fruit, licorice, toffee, dark coffee, south France red vine touch, sweet, exceptional texture and complexity, easy drinkable. Finish is peppery with long dark chocolate and even light ashes notes and again nice prune touch. A very exceptional brew in any dimension, again a grate beer from this brewery. Thanks Julian to have brought me this one !
