COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Previously 13% abv, 11% abv from 2014->. Black Albert was used in a new barrel aging project. More than a year ago, Carlo was able to get his hands on a stock of Four Roses Bourbon barrels, and we happily filled them up with Batch „0". This unique creation was originally to be named 4 Black Roses in honour of its heritage, but our friends in Kentucky strongly advised us not to do so! What to do? As the disowned offspring of Black Albert, the name Cuvée Delphine imposed itself. Savouring the Belgian irony, we are most honoured to have artwork by Delphine Boël shining on this label. You will not find this ale all over the globe. There is no export program, but we will try to provide stock through our web shop and some specialty beer pubs.

Bottle. Label says 2012 vintage, 11% abv. Pours very dark brown with big, lasting, pillowy head. Minimal lacing. Aroma is roasted, toasted, nutty, and huge caramel, vanilla. Flavor is toasted, caramel, vanilla, with a toasted, nutty, big toffee, and roasted finish. Lingering vanilla, oaky, caramel aftertaste. Soft carbonation, medium-full body, and very smooth texture. Seems to be drinking considerably better as it ages.

Bottle at cafe Frape, Maastricht. Pitch(est) black colour, completely non-transparent with a creamy beige head that nicely lasts and laces. Incredibly rich nose and taste with big imperial stout coffee and chocolate, red and dried fruits, light spiciness, grainy and creamy malt profile, warming red wine tones and bourbon finish. Lingering, and lingering, and lingering sweet roasted malty aftertaste. Firm body, light carbonation, velvet soft and thick oily mouthfeel.

Unclear black bear with a beige head. Tastes like caramel (much) alcohol, dark fruits, chocolate and wood. Oily texture, great beer.

UPDATED: MAR 18, 2015 2012 vintage. Pitch black color, huge brown head. Aroma is very malty, also a touch of alcohol, dark fruits, chocolate, wood, wine. Full body, very lively carbonation. Texture is oily, very thick, and very smooth. Taste of chocolate, wine, spices, dark fruits, red fruits... complex as hell. Long blackberry finish. Oh my god.

2011 bottle from my cellar. I think I picked this up in Belgium a couple years ago. Fruity nose. Silken texture. Dark fruits. Chocolate-covered raisins. Nip of sherry. Hint of milky sweetness. Full and fatty up front; thinner toward the finish. Big alcohol is hidden dangerously well. Slightly papery and cardboardy (oxidized), unfortunately, but not so much that it’s distracting. Overall, it’s pretty damn delish.

Butelka. Barwa czarna, nieprzejrzysta. 2 cm beżowa, drobno pęcherzykowa piana, która szybko opada. Zdecydowany aromat wanilii, czekolady.
