Previously 13% abv, 11% abv from 2014->. Black Albert was used in a new barrel aging project. More than a year ago, Carlo was able to get his hands on a stock of Four Roses Bourbon barrels, and we happily filled them up with Batch „0". This unique creation was originally to be named 4 Black Roses in honour of its heritage, but our friends in Kentucky strongly advised us not to do so! What to do? As the disowned offspring of Black Albert, the name Cuvée Delphine imposed itself. Savouring the Belgian irony, we are most honoured to have artwork by Delphine Boël shining on this label. You will not find this ale all over the globe. There is no export program, but we will try to provide stock through our web shop and some specialty beer pubs.

Bottle. Dark brown/black pour with a thin brown head. Aroma of bitter chocolate, licorice, tar and tannins. Outstanding lacing. Full body that is surprisingly drinkable with a slight bitter finish.

27th June 2015: shared bottle at the 2nd Annual Midlands tasting, thanks Gary for this offering. Black with a tanned topping. Sweet brew with plenty going on in both the aroma and taste. Malty front with some interesting flavours blending together: dark chocolate, liquorice and a spade full of tar to name but three. Interesting and enjoyable.

Café, chocolat noir, fruits rouges au nez. Complexité remarquable en bouche. Mélange de chocolat noir, de café, de framboises, de cerises. Mélange bien dosé de sucre et torréfaction avec un léger manque d’amertume. Excellent produit.

Bottle. Pours near black with a beige head. Molasses and big dark fruity notes, mild roasted malts, raisin, vanilla, and mild bourbony notes. It’s fine, but these big boozy Belgian stouts are usually much too rich for my tastes.

McWorta (989) - LUXEMBOURG - JUN 24, 2015
Pitch black with a very fie poring toast coloured head. Aromas of roasted malts, bitter chocolate, dark red fruits, plums, oak and caramelised dates and walnuts develop. Smoothly carbonated, with a rather mild texture and a full body. A bit sweet and astringent tasting of vanilla, coffee/espresso, roast malts and bitter chocolate. lasting sweet-bitter finish.
