Previously 13% abv, 11% abv from 2014->. Black Albert was used in a new barrel aging project. More than a year ago, Carlo was able to get his hands on a stock of Four Roses Bourbon barrels, and we happily filled them up with Batch „0". This unique creation was originally to be named 4 Black Roses in honour of its heritage, but our friends in Kentucky strongly advised us not to do so! What to do? As the disowned offspring of Black Albert, the name Cuvée Delphine imposed itself. Savouring the Belgian irony, we are most honoured to have artwork by Delphine Boël shining on this label. You will not find this ale all over the globe. There is no export program, but we will try to provide stock through our web shop and some specialty beer pubs.

Pitch black with a very fie poring toast coloured head. Aromas of roasted malts, bitter chocolate, dark red fruits, plums, oak and caramelised dates and walnuts develop. Smoothly carbonated, with a rather mild texture and a full body. A bit sweet and astringent tasting of vanilla, coffee/espresso, roast malts and bitter chocolate. lasting sweet-bitter finish.

330 ml bottle, 2012 vintage, from Ammersin 5, Vienna.
Black body, with a medium, dense, creamy, dark beige head.
Aroma of bourbon, dried and dark fruits, cocoa, liquorice, some coffee, some alcohol.
Tastes of dried fruits, coffee, cocoa, liquorice, bourbon, wood, liquorice, some booze.
Full, creamy mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes roasty, quite dry, a bit alcoholic, with coffee, wood, some bourbon, liquorice.

Tasty. Well integrated bourbon, not too dominant, with lovely coffee and cocoa notes and overall greatly balanced. I don’t like the typical Belgian sweet dried fruits notes in an Imperial Stout too much though. So this isn’t among my favourite beers of this style, while it’s still really enjoyable.

Bottiglia. Fantastica birra.

2012 vintage. Pours a thick dark brown with a decent amount of mocha colored head and decent lacing. There were some particulates visible in the bottom of the glass. I first get an interesting whiff of grape in the aroma followed by cocoa fudge with slight hints of vanilla, coffee, bourbon and umami. The taste is the same cocoa fudge with more prominent vanilla and coffee and some dark fruit. Wonderfully smooth bourbon and roast flavor with a hint of wood. Perfect moderate amount of booze and warmth. Finishes smooth and dry. Mouthfeel is somewhat oily with a full body and moderate carbonation, which was somewhat surprising but didn't detract in any way. Very well put together and less sweet than some barrel aged imperial stouts, which made it easier to drink.

Deep brownish black color with plenty of dark mocha head that fizzes. Smells of coffee, earthy, stinky cheese, oak, bourbon, vanilla, cocoa. Taste is vanilla fudge, prune, grape, spicy earthy coffee, bourbon. Sweetness is balanced well with the earthy coffee and hop flavors. I get some more bourbon as it warms. A chocolate malt flavor stays on the tongue. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

33cl bottle. Pours pitch black with a beautiful creamy dark beige head. One of the best looking stout I’ve ever seen. Aroma is roasted malts, heavy plums, raisins, some coffee, light soy sauce, some booze. Taste is marvelous, thick, sweet at the beginning and perfectly balanced by the final bitterness. Fruits and coffee flavors again, pleasant alcoholic warming. Full body, low carbonation. Outstanding.
