COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black Albert was used in a new barrel aging project. More than a year ago, Carlo was able to get his hands on a stock of Four Roses Bourbon barrels, and we happily filled them up with Batch „0". This unique creation was originally to be named 4 Black Roses in honour of its heritage, but our friends in Kentucky strongly advised us not to do so! What to do? As the disowned offspring of Black Albert, the name Cuvée Delphine imposed itself. Savouring the Belgian irony, we are most honoured to have artwork by Delphine Boël shining on this label. You will not find this ale all over the globe. There is no export program, but we will try to provide stock through our web shop and some specialty beer pubs.

On tap at Local Option, in a snifter, pours black with thin tan head that quickly fades. Roast coffee and dark chocolate on the nose and palate ... A potent brew indeed... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft to flute Chocolate, vanilla, light toasted malt, bourbon, toffee. Silky dark black with a 3 mm frothy medium dark tan head. Taste is chocolate, bourbon, tarte au sucre, malt, molasses. A huge beer, but too sweet for me.

Black pour with a milk chocolate head that lasts and leaves a lot of lace. Lots of bourbon and chocolate on the nose with some licorice and raisin. More fruit comes out on the palate with a long smooth bourbony finish. Top notch.

Alengrin (1347) - BELGIUM - AUG 10, 2014
UPDATED: AUG 31, 2014 Bourbon-matured version of Black Albert since 2008, with label designed by Delphine Boël, a name familiar enough to anyone living in Belgium. Thick, beige, creamy, cappuccino-like head, black colour without any transparency. Complex and tempting aroma of coffee, bitter chocolate, peat, whisky, oak, figues, tobacco, nutmeg, sweet sherry, raisins... Profound dark maltiness in the mouth with a fluffy mouthfeel, very full and rich, bit earthy, bit of iron but not in a disturbing way, from the middle onwards a broad, rich roasted bitterishness unfolds, woodiness too, even some smokiness, ending in a grand finale of vinous, warming, bourbon-like alcohol and spicy hops. A beautiful beer, every sip reveals new things, a true delight to savour this.

330ml bottle, 2009 vintage, at mini-tasting with Redkipper @ Les Crepes de Sophie, Shrewsbury. Pours black with beige head. Very subtle sweet bourbon aroma. Taste is familiar Albert, thick and delicious, but I really expected more oaky, barrel characteristics.. whisky notes are fleeting and whispery and searching for them almost distracted from our enjoyment. It is a great beer, but much prefer a standard Black Albert any day.

On tap at Bishops Arms in Örebro. Smell of chocolate, dark malts and roasted aromas. Similar taste. Strong and musty flavour. Long after taste. Very tasty.

DØE-Århus Syd: Black Imperial Stout with a nice creamy skum.Virker raw and edgy with flavor from the yeast. A nice beer that do not appear as strong as it is. Very complex relax beer.

Bottle share thanks to beechner bros. Deep dark, mostly black pour. Sweet, grainy, lightly boozy, chocolately roasty. Sweet, roasty, grainy. More booze but smooth. Still lightly underattenuated tasting.

Bottle thanks to little bro and UDBeernut. Pours black, small head. Aroma is super rich. Malty, chocolate, booze. Taste is sweet, diabetes sweet. Don’t know if I get much bourbon, but it’s so sweet, could be in there. Toffee and raisins. Real sticky.

Full chocolate mocha nose. A smooth start leading to some furry fuzzy mouth impact before hitting some sourness and returning to a lengthy luxurious smoothness. Decent length totally resolved and fully integrated. Pretty good stuff.
