Previously 13% abv, 11% abv from 2014->. Black Albert was used in a new barrel aging project. More than a year ago, Carlo was able to get his hands on a stock of Four Roses Bourbon barrels, and we happily filled them up with Batch „0". This unique creation was originally to be named 4 Black Roses in honour of its heritage, but our friends in Kentucky strongly advised us not to do so! What to do? As the disowned offspring of Black Albert, the name Cuvée Delphine imposed itself. Savouring the Belgian irony, we are most honoured to have artwork by Delphine Boël shining on this label. You will not find this ale all over the globe. There is no export program, but we will try to provide stock through our web shop and some specialty beer pubs.

Pours realy black and oily. I say black! Brown head. Full nose of berriefruits, strong coffie, chocolate. Starts with dark chocolate sweetness, not so strong as expected, more smooth but heavy and oily, slightly drinkable! The 13% alc are totally hidden. Malt hints in the second row. More fruity coffie to the end. Great one! Big thank you to kappldav123 for this experience.

Draft. Black. Bubbly light brown head. Very sweet. Bourbon and chocolate. Different from its peers somehow, not at all like most BA stouts. Dark cherry. Brown sugar. Finishes dry and somewhat woody. Bba is secondary. Smooth. No booze whatsoever. ..crazy! Alcohol is nowhere to be found. Dangerous.

From bottle at the Bevog 2nd anniversary. Pours a deep black color, topped with a medium sized dark tan colored head. Mild chocolate aroma with some gentle roasty notes. Taste is slightly sweet, milk chocolate with more prominent roasty feel. A bit of bitterness and quite some warming alcohol presence. A bit strong, but otherwise very fine.

Bottle from West Lakeview Liquors (Chicago, IL). 2012 Vintage. Pours a deep dark thicker opaque black hue, ominous overtones and subtle midnight glow on the edges and bottom. A big cakey milk chocolate head atop is sizable, a good retention. Foamy layer sticks around and laces well. Aromas are deeper and lushious, roasty malts, creamy sweetness and earth meet tannic oak, gentle spirit. Vanilla and subtle marshmellow, meet some bourbon spirit, oak and warmth. Caramel, a bit of char and coffee meet cocoa, earth and some bitterness and ash. Deep, dark, unapologetic with a firm but not overwhelming barrel presence. Initial is fuller body, a bit thicker with some firmer tannic life, warming spirit hitting the palate quickly. Toast, roast, bakers chocolate and some coffee. A bit fudgey, a firmer cocoa presence as we roll through, a bit of caramel, gentle dark fruit and sweetness. The backend thins up a bit, displaying some nice barrel elements, tapering biscuits and toasty malts, carmelized approach with some tannic and barrel flourishes. A firmer dark fruit and black cherry appeal hits, the Belgian yeast doing the work and I think adding something unique. This never gets hot, but you know it’s seen some nice barrel times. A bit of sweetness, vanilla, tangy dark fruit, caramel and lingering oak. I dig this. No one element stands out, instead integrating well, especially a pleasant barrel expression. Roasty, deep, and nice sweetness that softens the blow, another layer from that Belgian yeast. Never overwhelming in sweetness or any element really, but instead flowing very nicely. Top shelf Belgian tinged Imperial Stout with some masterful barrel time.
