COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black Albert was used in a new barrel aging project. More than a year ago, Carlo was able to get his hands on a stock of Four Roses Bourbon barrels, and we happily filled them up with Batch „0". This unique creation was originally to be named 4 Black Roses in honour of its heritage, but our friends in Kentucky strongly advised us not to do so! What to do? As the disowned offspring of Black Albert, the name Cuvée Delphine imposed itself. Savouring the Belgian irony, we are most honoured to have artwork by Delphine Boël shining on this label. You will not find this ale all over the globe. There is no export program, but we will try to provide stock through our web shop and some specialty beer pubs.

Bottle. Aroma has notes of sweet cacao, espresso, roasted malts, bourbon, wood, molasses, Belgian yeast and dark dried fruits. Black as sin with a nice large foamy brown head that mostly diminished and left good lace. Flavor is very sweet and bitter. Palate is very full bodied and oily soft. Overall a monster brew! Just decadent and delightful. Very sweet with a nice alcohol burn. Great beer.

330 ml. 2009 bottle. Thanks Kai! Pours black with a very nice tan head. Aroma of chocolate, fruit, roast, caramel, and coffee. Taste is dark chocolate, dark fruits, roasted malt, caramel, coffee, licorice, and wood. Amazingly complex. Amazingly good!

bottle at home from bottleshop, Canterbury
Pours dark brown with fluffy dark coffee tan head that starts off at a few inches then collapses to a more manageable few mm (yes mixed measurement systems...deal with it)
Slightly sour, tart red fruits, milk chocolate and coffee. extremely full bodied, sultanas, maltloaf, rich coffee, slight sourness, astringent coffee roast barley, gentle caress of whisky with more coffee building in the finish. Finishing quite dry with some balsamic fruit notes. Lovely and hides its strength magnificently.

Sample at Belmont Station. Pours black with a medium thick foamy tan head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, chocolate and black licorice. Full, smooth body with flavors of chocolate malt, vanilla, earthy hops and anise. The finish is mocha and licorice with a bit of warming alcohol in the background. Really good all around.

On tap at Belmont Station A: Pure black with a non-existent head. Spectacular legs, though N: Roasted malt, chocolate, heavily roasted espresso, and oak. Quite a bit of licorice and there’s a backdrop of vanilla. Not particularly strong, though. T: Tons of roast and there’s a pleasant sweetness balanced out by the slightest bitterness. Lots of the nose shows up here. M: Thick, oily, and coating. Alcohol is expertly hidden. O: A well oiled machine I’d recommend. Wish it had a little more barrel character, though.
