COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black Albert was used in a new barrel aging project. More than a year ago, Carlo was able to get his hands on a stock of Four Roses Bourbon barrels, and we happily filled them up with Batch „0". This unique creation was originally to be named 4 Black Roses in honour of its heritage, but our friends in Kentucky strongly advised us not to do so! What to do? As the disowned offspring of Black Albert, the name Cuvée Delphine imposed itself. Savouring the Belgian irony, we are most honoured to have artwork by Delphine Boël shining on this label. You will not find this ale all over the globe. There is no export program, but we will try to provide stock through our web shop and some specialty beer pubs.

Bottle at home 23rd January 15. Pours thick and black. Elegant head. Aroma is dried fruit, chocolate, some barrel and alcohol. Taste is smooth and classy, not loads if barrel, slight vanilla, very sweet, could be offset for my taste. Good, but I had high hopes for better

Great drop here. A nice mellowness on the BA which has been a bit heavy in some other big hitters lately. Plenty boozy dark fruit, oak, rich chocolate, bourbon sweetness. Very smooth palate. A little fizzy. Classy.

bottle @ home. Pours black with a dark red-brown medium head. Roasted aroma with vanilla, alcohols, wood-barrel, malt, dark & red fruits, leather, gentle thinner and some licorice. Big Mouth feel with a tart leather sensation and medium carbonation. Taste is sweet with rough roast and with quite sharp alcohols. Chocolate, coffee, licorice, menthol, bourbon & herbs. Finish is drier but still sicky sweet has a nice base of lingering vanilla along with leather, oak, coal, alcohol, chocolate, coffee and some herbs. Complexity is nice, but as it has an overall sharp alcoholic character I will tuck the next one away in the cellar for a couple of years, it will without doubt mellow out and get even better.

(Struise Cuvée Delphine) Bottle 330 ml at home, served into a snifter, ABV 11% Totally black pour, with a huge dark brown head, very thick and with very good retention. Light lacing left behind. Great aroma, lots of roasted malts, alcohol, vanilla, very subtle notes of the barrel aging. Even better taste, the alcohol barely notable here, roasted malts, coal, subtle barrel aging character again, lots of vanilla, chocolate on the finish, a bit sweet. Full body with the right amount of carbonation, very sticky. Just great.

Pours a creamy light brown average head that mostly diminishes. Body is black. Aroma contains moderate malts (cookie, hay, roasted and toasted malts, nuts, caramel, milk chocolate and strong coffee), moderate hops (flowes, spruce, orange, lemon, lime), light yeasts (horse blanket, cobwebs) and banana, grape, raisin, plum, apple, pineapple, brwon sugar, licorice, spices and bourbon. Flavor shifts between light acidic, sweet and bitter with coffee and bourbon. Body is full with syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Amazingly subtle and complex. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
