Five Squared, a beer part of the Struise beer recrystallization project. Limited edition of 216 bottles, made from our Quadrupel X. You could become the proud owner of this unique charity bottle, and to be sold at the ACBF. All proceeds will be transferred to an honorable project, to be revealed at the festival.

Bottle (mega thanks to BelgBeerGeek for this one and to hannont for bringing this over)... Poured clear, reddish with no head. Nose of wood, vinous dark fruits, prunes, raisins, etc.. Super thick, completely coated my palate. Sweet, heavy booze, spirit-like with a ton of alcohol heat. Lots of dark fruit characters, dark cherry with some vanilla and sugary candied sweet tones. Intense.

finally. we had this bottle at a tasting with 4 other people. took some time to take of the wax. poured into molen tasting glasses. poured a deep amber red colour with no head. smell was like a port, strong boozy nose. with sweet sugar / caramel. with some fruits hidden in the back cuz’of the alcohol. and wow! the viscosity of this beer is so incredible thick! never had a beer that had such a thick mouthfeel. it’s like you would take a spoon to eat it out of the glass. verry sweet taste, with apples, more candy sugar, wine feeling. well it was for a good charity

Bottle shared by "hannont". Colour...semi cloudy garnet-amber with no head. Nose...butterscotch, boiled cherry sweets, marzipan and macerated cherries soaked in booze. Palate... Massively cloying and boozy with a thick feel that reminds one of kirschwasser or framboise liqueur. The palate is eminently coating and the booze and dryness really hits mid and back palate. This doesn’t seem like 25% and I’ll bet it could sneak up and kick your patoot right quick!

75cl bottle at home, shared with Mathieu87. APPEARANCE: dark blond beer, nice stable beige head. NOSE: alcohol, herbs, grains, little oxidated. TASTE: lots of alcohol, herbs, sweet, caramel, red fruits. Too much alcohol and not totally in balance...

750 mL bottle, huge thanks to Greg for sharing! Reddish chestnut colored pour. Nose and flavor bring big notes of red berry, plum, sherry, caramel, vanilla, marzipan, and sweet red wine. Definitely some alcohol burn, but I wouldn’t peg this for 25% were I to drink it blind. Definitely has some things going on and drinks all right, but not nearly as impressive as Double Black.

(750ml bottle) Pours a hazy amber body with a small beige head. Aroma of caramel, cherry, raisins, bread, and baked banana. Flavor of cherry, wood, toffee, vinous, and almonds with a alcohol burn in the finish.

yup, THAT was a big whant ! bobochamps, has done it again ! thnx for the share dude, seriously ! now, lets start of with expectations... everyone told me this was WAY to sweet, ( knowing what struise released lately, in terms of sweetness, if this was even sweeter, my teeth would have fallen out imidiatly ) . its su^posed to be ’ ok ’ , not nearly worth its money .. so, in real life : pours clear brown, no foam. no scent taste is definetly good. realy thickn ( how i like it ! ) low carbo, sweet, yet not nearly as swet as it was in my nightmare-idea’s .. ) grainy, but tasty . i’ve havn’t had XXX , nor XXXX , but i was let down a bit by X and XX . not much taste and wattery. this, on the other hand, is something else ! worth its money ? no beer , ever, will be worth 100 € / 75 cl ( tastewise ) . but given his rarity, its meaning ( to keep alvinne alive) and such, i actualy think it is . well, it is , if you give that amount of money for a BA dark lord. cause i’d prefer this way more, and its much more rare ! definetly did not regret having a taste of this, definetly thought it was way better than what i’ve heard about it . if onley i won the lottery, i’d buy a bottle or 2 to drink again someday ... GO STRUISE

75cl, new exclusive brew Anno 2012, from Etre Gourmet Beauvechain, complex brew, sweet/alcoholic and slightly fruity, very sweet, yet not too heavy, balanced (esp. considering the high ABV!), hazy, nearly no head, good brew, yet very expensive!, WOW!

Dashimus (227) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 8, 2013
Bottle. Pours hazy deep red with short lived white head. Aroma is delightful, candyfloss, sugar, syrup and honey. However, taste disappoints slightly with dried fruits and toffee that is saved slightly by a warm alcohol feel of mostly sherry. Full bodied.

Pour from Shahin Thanks ! Pours a rich copper color perfectly still. The nose is big complex sweet toffee, deep ripe plum, caramel a and a bit of boozy vinous notes. The palate is smooth and mouth-coating like a fine sherry. Lots of complexities in the palate with flavors unfolding as the palate adjusts to the boozy heat and layered notes of belgian spices, caramel, date. doughy sourness... touches of rye.
