Backlog rating. Keg at BD Camden. It pours a slightly hazy golden color with a medium white head. Nose is grainy, grassy, fruity, mildly sweet, toffee. Taste is quite sweet upfront, lightly boozy, grainy with notes of hay, grass, caramel, biscuit, bread dough. Finishes quite astringent and bitter. Medium to full bodied with good carbonation. Overall, not my favourite style for sure

Bottle, 75cl, thx to clubgonzo. It pours a lightly unclear, golden colored body topped by a dense, off-white head. The aroma is lightly Belgian in style, fruity and with some white sugar and a touch of the yeast. Some herbal, grassy hints too. It’s lightly bitter on the palate, dry and full-bodied with a nice carbonation level. Fresh fruits, white sugar, herbal hops and a hint of Belgian yeast in the flavor, the bitterness lasting for a good while. Nothing extraordinary going on here, but it’s a fine brew indeed. 140905

Very cloudy bright orange. Nose is decent. Sesame seed and walnut and a very light hop aroma. Taste is far more hoppy. Pine and resinous oils with a touch of more nuts like pistachio and walnut.

Pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma of skunk, grass hops, plants, weak citrus and more skunky herbs. Taste is kinda grassy with some rather fainted hops, pilsner malt, citrus, herbs and a weak metallic note. A let down for me.

4oz on tap at Liberty’s. Labeled "Struise: Imperial Pils" -- my best guess is that this is it. Mostly clear golden orange color. Thin off-white head. Leaves respectable lace. Medium plus body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Kind of a biscuity, bready malt, stale hops, belgian pilsner malt... Flavors I don’t love are recognized, but they’re not so bad in this example, works pretty alright for a belgian imperial pilsener. Moderate bitter taste. lighter sweet. Kind of zesty, nice peppery taste. Up front, at first, I wasn’t into it. Kind of sweet and peppery and with a weird malty / old hop flavor that I get from a lot of hoppier belgians, but towards the end I liked this more and more. A solid belgian imperial pils from struise, good for what I expected. Nice to sip on, satisfying amount of german flavor to it.

Sample at SBWF 2014. Golden with a white head. Aroma and taste of floral hops, citrus, grass, bread and some malt. The body was medium and the finish quite bitter. A descent one.

Slightly hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of hops, quite sweet, resin, light liquorice, light fruity. Bitter hoppy flavour, light malts. Bitter finish, malts. Amazing for a lager style beer, very nicely done.
