330 mL bottle, served in a stem glass side-by-side with Black Albert Batch ’0’ at a tasting at Chris’ place. Pours black with a small, light brown head that fades to a thin remnant, leaving behind a small amount of lace. On the nose, there are big roasty malts, along with coffee, chocolate and port coming through a bit. The flavour is moderately sweet with roasted malts, oak, coffee and a hint of fruit and apple. The finish is long and malty. On the palate, it is full in body with a smooth, creamy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a very nice imperial stout with a port barrel accent. 2012-12-01

Bottle [330ml] shared with HogTownHarry & biegaman -- c/o HogTownHarry. 2011 vintage, Kab. No.42. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a large lasting frothy light-brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, light leafy hops, wood, chocolate and alcohol. Flavour of roasted malt, light leafy hops, dark fruit and some coffee and chocolate. Medium bodied. A really good beer.

33cl bottle pours a oily, opaque black with lacing, clumpy, beige head. Nose has a lot of red grape, some booze, a little nail polish, rich German chocolate cake, some light coconut, cherry cordial. Flavor is sweet, malty, dark chocolate, Lindt truffles, something just a touch sour, rhubarb, coffee grounds, overly oaked red wine, I think the Port wine flavors come out more. Finishes a little heavy at first, but ultimately fairly smooth. Nice.

Opaque brown - black beer, good tan head. Softish palate, semi dry. Mild minerals. A little coffee. A whisper of wood and a nice Port Wine touch. Red berry fruits very well integrated. Semi dry finish. Lovely!

Very dark with a lot of darkbrown foam. Very complex and balanced beer. Notes of raisins, chocolate, coffee, port. Some vinous notes also. A bit sour. Very long aftertaste.

330 ml bottle. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. The aroma is very nice, it smells like roasted malt, dark fruit, port, chocolate, and some coffee. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there’s addition of some cream, burnt/charred malt and a bit of anise. Good mix of sweet, fruity and roasty flavors. Mouthfeel/body is full, it’s creamy and a bit coating with a good amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good overall brew, I’d pick this one up again and it’s definitely worth trying.

Big thanks to sebletitje for getting me this bottle. Thanks buddy! It pours a nice opaque very dark mahogany with a minute long tall mocha head of foam. The aroma offers up chocolate fruit cake fruitiness, raisins, prunes and fig like fruity esters. Yes. The taste has that pleasing mix of prunes, raisins and blackberries blending into dark roasted malts and yummy chocolate like goodness. Delicious brew with rich sweet dark fruity esters from front to back helping ground and round out the highly roasted malts and chocolate and I get no sense of the big ABV.
