Picked this up at Dranken Geers, Oostakker, nr Gent. Consumed at home in company of Casey, Traci & Loz 08.07.13 Pours dark brown large mid brown head. Dark sugar, sourness & little soot merge to form a great nose. Soft in the mouth, tastes boozy, some sweet liquorice, real tangy in fact loads of liquorice, sharp fruity edge. Starts to dry the mouth out.I like the soft chewy bubbles, carbonation is great. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

dense beige head leaves some lacing. redbrown colour. aroma of white grape, vaniline, wood, peppery yeast. taste like aroma, sweet, port, madeira, roasted malts, lactic acid, yoghurt, tanines. medium body lots of carbonation. not a gusher, but a snailer (filled @ alvinne? ;) bottle 50cl

Deep brown pour, dark brown head. Interesting beer. Not many white wine barreled imperial stouts out there. Its very roasty and has a lot of charred oak, licorice, bitter chocolate, espresso beans and the barrel notes add an odd flavor. Not sure it works that well together but the beer is still pretty tasty.

Imperial stout matured on Monbazillac barrels (sweet white wine from the Dordogne region). Thick, creamy, beige head, colour as good as black. Aroma of gooseberries, chocolate, wine, orange peel, coffee powder, dried plums, oak; dry sourish taste, very fruity and very complex, with a rich and deep, caramelly and chocolatey malt basis, the typical powdery mouthfeel I appreciate so much in this style and a full roasted bitterness in the finish with refreshing wine acidity and some woodiness. Wonderful, these people keep inventing impy variations as if it were nothing and almost each and every one of them turns out to be a masterpiece.

[ As Struise Macadame ].
Clear dark black brown color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, light beige to beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, berries, wood. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, berries, chocolate, wood - tobacco, plum, licorice. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is fizzy, finish feel is light to moderate alcoholic. IMO. to overcarbonated. [20140711]

Bottle in the sun at Lords, Compton Upper, 2nd day of the test v Sri Lanka and celebrating a daddy century by Root, 13/06/14. Black with a big dirty tan head that retains well, slow gusher affair. Nose is earthy cocoa, wine BA, oaky, dark fruit tones, shades of sherry and Xmas cake. Taste comprises a big wine tang, oaky wood soak, rich fruit cake, chocolate nut brownies. Medium + body, fine carbonation, light booze in the close but drinks well under 10%. Decent impy if not top draw, plenty of depth and character.

[From my backlog @ Cimmeria Oviedo. Shared with Lowenbrau] . Dark brown colour, almost black, with a thin layer of a tan head with good duration. Aroma has notes of roasted malts, slightly smoke, licorice and white wine. Flavor is slightly acidic, with notes of bretts, roasted malts, alightly chocolate and white wine. The final is slightly bittery with strong notes of black chcolate.

Bottle. First one of three over the past year that was not a gusher. Deep dark beer with a frothy head. Medium sour taste predominated. Lively carbonation although not so pronounced after spending well over a year in the bottle. Overall a decent imperial. Classic touch of sour coming from De Struise.

500 ml bottle from Struise shop in Brugge. Dark pour with creamy beige head. Aroma is quite oaky, lots of winey aromas, dark fruits, cocoa, tobacco, a bit dusty. Taste is really woody, righ oak tannins, tobacco, cocoa, earthy notes, tart flavor. Palate is full bodied but not sweet or rich, medium carbonation. Nice wine BA stout.
