3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Picked this up at Dranken Geers, Oostakker, nr Gent. Consumed at home in company of Casey, Traci & Loz 08.07.13 Pours dark brown large mid brown head. Dark sugar, sourness & little soot merge to form a great nose. Soft in the mouth, tastes boozy, some sweet liquorice, real tangy in fact loads of liquorice, sharp fruity edge. Starts to dry the mouth out.I like the soft chewy bubbles, carbonation is great. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, bought @ Etre Gourmet, Belgium.
Pours all-black with a large, frothy, light bubbly beige head. Light fizzy. Aroma has lots of oak and grapes, roasted malts, a touch of tartness. Medium, light fizzy carbonation, quite oily and dry mouthfeel. Flavour is vinious, roasted, grapes, quite a bit of tartness, chocolate, light coffee. Light nutty. Good, but a bit unbalanced.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500ml bottle. Poured a dark and murky brown color with a tan head. Not a gusher, but a creeper. Aromas of wood, chocolate, licorice, and white wine. Tastes follow with some dark fruits and caramel. Interesting.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml bottle. Hazy, darkest brown colour with average, frothy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white to beige head. Sweetish, vinous, dark malty aroma, hints of red wine, grapes, red and blue berries, milk chocolate. a touch of lactobacilli. Taste is initially dry, vinous, yeasty, dark malty basis, subtle sweetness, hints of chocolate, later more harmonious with additional woody, oaky notes; lively carbonation, some biting alcohol in the finish. Complex, slightly inharmonious, requires familiarization.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bière prometteuse sur papier, mais décevanve en bouche. Légère acidité en bouche. Les apports du murissement en fûts sont difficilement perceptibles.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Smells like yoghurt. Looks moderately dark, with a small amount of foam. Tastes also very sour, unbalanced. Not special. Alcohol taste is present in the end.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours mostly black but has a red tint. Huge beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and white wine. Taste is of roasted malt, coffee, dark fruits, vanilla, licorice and white wine flavours. Full body and medium carbonation. Has a long sour aftertaste...the barrel aging I’m guessing. Well, it’s not bad, but it’s not super either. I don’t think the white wine barrel aging is doing it any favours. This was €14 and I can get 3 bottles of Black Albert (which is better) for the same price, so I won’t be getting this one again.

Opaque black - brown beer with a big fluffy tan head. Light palate, crisp and semi dry. Somewhat left field this beer - a juxtaposition of dark malt with a trace of roast and creamy white wine! Trace of wood, Finishes slightly spicy with woody bitterness and bitter linger. Unusual beer, just about hangs together and has an overall ’dark lambic’ vibe.
