Struise-Mikkeller is as we said in the past "Best of two worlds". We delivered an IPA with 130 IBU (Batch I), 150 IBU (Batch II), 163 IBU (Batch III), 216 IBU (Batch IV), but a bitterness hidden the Struise way, counter balanced by maltyness, alcohol and rest sugars.

31/01/2014 Ma che siete venuti a fà (tap). Ambrata, abbastanza limpida, schiuma biancastra leggera. Al naso malto, lieviti, spezie, note agrumate e di resina, intensa. In bocca è equiliibrata, con un attacco maltato e un finale amaro lungo e persistente, solo un po’ stancante a lungo andare. Corpo medio-elevato, carbonazione media. Ok.

Decent beer, good hop character and nice bitterness. Would have hoped for a longer after taste, disappears very quickly.

33cl bottle (BB05/2018) @ The Capital, Leuven A: bitter, spunk (i’m sorry for that), exotic fruits, and a bit dust/ground. AP: Dark blond, off-white head that laces and stays a while. T: Bitter, but drinkable, candy sugar, orange. P: Bitter fruity finish, soft mouthfeel. I can believe people like this but it’s just not (yet) my cup off tea.

Bottle at home. Nice amber colour, looks like a real beer. Medium body and Carbo. Complex aroma of honey, orange, fresh bread but not very much on the fruit for an IPA. Big grapefruit bitter bite in the taste, touch of sweetness but not much. Aftertaste goes on forever. Very good. Y
