Aroma of lots of floral hops mixed nicely with sweet malt. Taste is very hoppy with lots of citrus hops. Taste is quite creamy and got more so as it warmed. Also a nice warming alcohol feeling on the way down. Very good.

bottle. Amber with very large head. Big and sweet, almost like a dubbel, but substantial IPA bitterness. Oddly, it doesn’t seem very hoppy. Not quite what I was expecting, but well done.

Pours deep amber with a medium offwhite head. Aroma is citrus, earthy and caramel. Taste is sweet with moderate bitters. Medium bodied, smooth, soft carbonation and astringent finish.

Foamed up like hell when I opened, but then again this beer has been on a long plane ride from Niagara to Medellin. Perhaps it doesn’t enjoy the tropical climate. In any case, I’m certainly enjoying it on the rooftop terrace of a hostel overlooking the valley of Medellin. Really clear orange peel aroma on the top – gives the beer a marmalade feel but without the sweetness. Pours a kind of brownish orange with good lacing and super foamy head. Well-disguised alcohol. Tangy, fruity finish with some grapefruit astringency. Slick texture. Original and nicely done. If this is the Struise/Mikkeller way of doing DIPAs, I would appreciate a lot more of them. Bottle.

330 ml bottles on several occasions, mostly at home and poured in Struise glass. Pours deep orange to amber with a steady medium creamy head. Nose of deep and rich exotic fruit plus some smoky notes. Full body with a creamy mouthfeel, bitterness is very vivid and strong but tasty. Taste is grapefruit juice and tangerine zeste. One of the nicest DIPAs out there.

12oz bottle pours deep brown with off white head. Hop and malt aroma. Sweet malt and caramel with a bit of grapefruit taste.

Cold bottle, poured into tulip. Batch III. Dark red with a big enduring head. Mixed citrus smell. Taste - quite mild, dark fruits, frothy toffee, raisins in the finish with a pretty srong bitterness. The hops really meld with the flavour - more of a Belgian-style IPA than an American IIPA.

Bottle. Poured dark copper with a huge white head and lots of lacing. Aroma is burnt caramel and candy sugar. No hops apparent. Taste is similar, hop profile is totally dead. Guessing this bottle is out of date. Big alcohol heat. Nice palate and carb. This must be huge when fresh. Actually had a surprising amount of things going for it even without the hops.

Bottle 33 cl from erzbierschof.ch. Blood orange beer with huge and pale ochre foam sticky. Tropical aromas, grapefruit and resin, malted sweetness, candi. The taste is caramelized and fruity, citrus XL, grapefruit-orange, candi, spices, pepper and passion fruit. It’s quite bitter but not expected IBU intoxication, with malt-toffy-sugar balance.

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy perfect amber with stable, creamy beige head. Delicious aroma of malt and toffee, bringing childhood memories to me. Pleasant, bitter onset, turning into a more malty and bready body, finishing deliciously dry. My #700. :-)

I just had this beer last night and I was getting sadder and sadder as the bottle was emptying. 330ml in a wide red wine glass. 2012 vintage. So many flavours! So balanced and well-rounded. The amount of sugar may make some walk away, but even at 163 IBU, the bitterness is extremely well balanced with the caramel and tropical fruit aromas. Glad I have 2 more in the cellar!
