11.2 oz bottle from BottleTrek.com Pours a light amber, big creamy head. Aroma of sweetness and spices. Flavor is similiar with the addition of citrus and some yeastiness. I am bit conflicted, I want to give a high rating, but this beer is missing something. It might be the freshness, but it did not have that big hop punch I was expecting. Definitely not 130 IBU’s.

Aug 20, 2008 Perfectly even opaque honey color with a dense white head. Aroma is sweet with tart, almost fizzy elements. Very little noticeable hop presence in smell. Taste is unlike my expectations of the style: just as sour as bitter, this may be one you must taste fresh to understand it’s classification as a IIPA. Starts out with cutting lemon, transitions to alcohol bitterness, then fades into slight vegetal noble hop bitterness. Tastes are balanced and smooth throughout, and the spices blend too well to place them at all. $6.79/11.2oz

Piney herbs and flowers bloom atop honeyed caramel sweetness before a levelled resinous finish delineates this pillowy and balanced avant-garde strong ale.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A mushroom cloud of foam slowly collapses into the misty golden amber. The slightest yeast pour though obscures all.
-A narrow trail of alcohol is found in the back.
-The same intensity in flavor can be found throughout.
-A doughy yeast presence adds complexity.
-The yeast sludge mars many subtleties, so including it is not a great idea imho.
-The expansive carbonation and calculated level of dextrins form a delightfully comfortable mouthfeel.
-Do not drink this expecting a Double IPA.

Aug 14, 2008 Hazy orange amber body with a lasting off-white head.
Perfumy, strong malt/hop aroma. Very Nice.
Nice hop bitterness that’s supported by a firm malt base. Nice drying finish.

Aug 12, 2008 Bottle shared by Jason. Cloudy orange body under a small tan head. The aroma gives candy sugar, a touch of malt, and some bitter hops. Flavor-wise it adds a pleasant rounded malt profile alongside some pretty crazy bitterness. The high level of bitterness doesn’t do a lot for me but the malt profile in this thing is fantastic.

Aug 12, 2008 Bottle at home 12-08-08 purchased from Cave Direct Beer Merchants (Mixed case of Mikkeller Beer) Pours hzy mid amber with a white head that is flecked sporadically with yeast. Wonderful hoppy bite that is immediately softened and tempered with a nice sweetness. There are definate and obvious infuences from both Struise and Mikkeller but I know I’m going agaisnt the grain but I don’t think they combine as well as I would hope, in saying that this is still a very good beer.
