Jmichael (584), Asheville, North Carolina, USA Mar 31, 2008 thanks to jay an julie for sharing this suprise, a definite european hop bom of a bear, you notice the hops but only behind the yeast presence of the belgians. definitly a fun complex beer, but no hop bomb compared to the Americans. A great beer for Belgian lover who loves hops.
andersand (27), Sweden Oct 13, 2008 Nice amber colour with a huge off-white head. Hoppy, caramelly, typical double IPA aroma with some Mikkellers stamp on it. The taste is a very successfull blend of Belgium and America, fruity, hoppy, juicy, caramelly with some spices. Extremely drinkable and pleasant. Something I try to drink often. thickfreakness (107), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 12, 2008 Many thanks to Jon (WeeHeavySD) for this awesome extra. Decanted into a snifter. It is a dark amber color with a big, fluffy white head that takes a while to fade. Aroma is earthy, light citrus, belgian yeastiness and alcohol. Taste is belgian yeastiness, citrus rind, earthiness and some alcohol kick. I really like the citrus rind aspect in this. Medium body with decent carbonation. weaselkenievil (390), Cheshire, England Oct 11, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Phil_L and beermerchants.com was very pleased when I saw a Mikkeller beer in my lottery package. Good work mate! Basically Struise kick arse, MIkkeller kick arse. So when they get together it’s like Rooney and Ronaldo. I’ve loved every beer I’ve had off either of them. This was fantastic. Got the unmistakeable Struise stamp on it but it’s like a Mikkeller remix. Lovely! Tangerine, caramel, Belgian yeast, a tasty lick of alcohol. Complicated and posh and oh so tasty. In the commercial description it mentions controversy, beer geeks offended by it mentioning IPA? Grow up, a great tasting beer in my opinion. Fair play if you don’t like it but how right to my taste. Belter. You’re a good man Phil_L. Hophead22 (265), Redlands, California, USA Oct 11, 2008 11.2oz bottle, via trade with Swolf3, thanks Steven. Nice hazy orange pour, white head. Hoppy, yeasty aroma. Smooth hop bitterness, very drinkable. Can hardly taste the alcohol, very nice. southamptonsam (51), New York, USA Oct 5, 2008 It is an interesting mix of a Belgian head with an American/Norwegian body. Pleasant enough but the lack of clear identity was a negative for me.
