- Joe Tucker, RateBeer.com

Struise-Mikkeller is as we said in the past "Best of two worlds". We delivered an IPA with 130 IBU, but a bitterness hidden the Struise way, counter balanced by maltyness, alcohol and rest sugars. People who do not like Ipa's will actually be amazed, the general hop bomb addict will not understand, so yes this is a controverse brew... enjoy anyway!

Bottle (don’t recall for sure where I got it, but likely via HogTownHarry). Doing an inventory of my stash today, I discovered this was missing, and then recalled that I drank it a while back with the intention of entering a rating afterwards - looks like I forgot! From what I recall, this was a very solid IIPA - big hops, good malt backbone, etc. Will have to get my hands on another bottle sometime for a proper rating...

Bottle. Nice dark color, large white foam. A lot of interesting aromas and flavors, including fruit, caramel, cider, strawberries and chocolate. The body was fairly strong, the beer was nicely balanced. The closure was dry. Interesting and exciting.

alright, but must be getting quite old by now which lets it down. Very spritzy carbonation. aroma of pineapple, lemon and cider. musty sweet mouthfeel, think there’s some funk in there too., wartming finish from the alc.

Bottle->honker: pours a medium, frothy offwhite head atop a murky brown body. Aroma of lemons and sweetness. Sweet taste, some citrus, and a full body. Good character, but at the expense of being cloying. I’m in a full-bodied beer funk, sorry.

Traded bottle. Hazy copper/bronze pour with plenty of carbonation building a large, khaki head. Big, bubbly lacing. Fairly gentle aroma of spruce, malt and some alcohol. Seriously, 130 IBUs? The flavour was sweet citrus hops but the finish brings in the resins. Dry finish. Super balanced considering the 130 IBUs because I never would have guessed it.

Body Amber, murky body with an off-white head. Aroma full of american hops, flowers, grass and some caramel malts. very well balanced and still powerful. Heavily bitter flavour, well balanced. Dry finish. Nice IPA.

Pours a cloudy brownish/orange color with a moderate head and decent lacing and some sediment. Aroma is dominated by citrus notes, espescially Orange, as well as molasses or butterscotch. Tasteis pine notes up front, medium bitterness, with chocolate and some roasted malts in the finish, which is moderate.

Poured a hazy copper color with a decent white head and good lacing. The aroma was very busy. Malts, light yeast and lots of citrus and pine swirling about. The flavor was a marriage of Belgian ale and lots of pine hops. Sugary malts and yeast prevent the hops from ruling the day. Medium in body and well carbonated. Not a bad beer.

Pours deep brown into a snifter. Mocha micro head with excellent retention leaves sheet lacing as it slowly recedes. Orange and grapefruit aromas. Bitter, dry, astringent resin upfront turning to summer fruits in the middle and back to a bitter lasting pine finish.
