Second time I tasted was as member of the SC² club. Special version bottle, aged 7.5 months on Maker’s Mark bourbon barrels (single cask 05H22). Compared to the previous time, the bourbon adds more character and depth to the beer and brings it all into a perfect balance. Sweetness is still there, but more subtle and it perfectly covers the bourbon boost. Pffffjeeeeewwwwwieeeeee. This is NICE

you know, some ( all? ) say struise has gone a bit to the same with the latest brews. high alcohol, sweetnes, bourbon barrel aged. they are right. good thing they always keep their stuff good, though ! less great thing about it is that things otherwise good, now are .. mediocer ( to other struise compared) . this is quite the same. if it was from another brewerie, i’d be impressed. now im just.. meh..
this is one ( whats in a name) that i only get sweetness from. in the smell, in the taste, in the aftertaste. not as liquid sugar ( like 90 percent of the belgian brown ales) , more complex, more due to the aging on .. ( you guessed it) bourbon barrels. still its a good beer , though. but they’ve made better
