Appearance: Brown with quick to disappear ivory 1cm thick head.
Aroma: Woody (possibly sandalwood), hint of chocolate, malty, yoghurty, slightly vinous, touch of fruit cake bleeding over to a subtle marzipan note.
Taste: Medium sweetness, low/medium bitterness, medium sourness, touch of burnt caramel, and iota of bread crust.
Palate: Smooth, light body and texture, very light and airy mouthfeel, quick refreshing finish, average/slightly lively carbonation.
Comments: 2010 edition. Delicious, very, very easy to drink. Left a glass lace.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. 2010 Vintage. Brown beer with ruby hints, no head. Aroma is of licorice, sweet malts, dark treacle and figs. The taste is pretty much like its aroma. Some spices, sweet malts, dark fruits, figs, toffee and licorice. Some decent levels of carbonation- not too strong or weak. A touch oily on the palate with the warmth of alcohol. Another excellent Struise beer. Unlike Rochefort (my favourite) there are many more different Struise beers to try. Roll on.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2010 vintage. Pours dark brown, slightly reddish, with frothy tan head and good lacing. Aroma is red fruits, particularly cherries, toffee. Flavour is primarily sweet fruits, caramel, hints of oak and candy sugar, even a trace of dark malt. Nice long finish with a little bitterness coming through and slightly spicy too. Overall it’s the right level of sweet and very, very smooth. Delightful!
