Pannepøt (read Pannepeut) is a beer specially brewed and named as a wink to the Danish market presented at the Danish beer festival ’Københavnske Øldage 2006’ exclusively at Ølbutikkens stand. It is produced to express the brewers gratitude to all the Danish beer amateurs that drink their products daily. Pannepøt has later been available on draught and bottles at bars and shops in Belgium & Denmark. Since winter 2006, this beer’s popularity kept growing in Belgium at such a level that the production today equals Pannepot.

Bottles at home (2009 and 2013). Pours dark brown to black with a small off-white head. Aging definitely improves this beer. The 2013 bottle has a sharp solvent smell, which also dominates the taste. The aged bottle has lost most of this. Aroma of plume, raisin, roasted malts, some chocolate and coffee as well. Taste is dark fruits, rum, and roasted malts. Not much alcohol in the taste for a 10% beer. No sharp bitter aftertaste as with the 2013 bottle. Probably even better when aged a little more. Luckily there is a second 2009 bottle waiting for me.

11.2oz bottle served in a Duvel tulip 2011 vintage A - Pours a deep dark brown with a thin mocha cap S - Vinous berry fruit, grapes, cherries, brown sugar, apple skins, a tiny hint of banana, dates soaked in alcohol, fruit cake, T - Dark caramelized malts, licorice, berry fruit, tangy grapes, cherry wine, tobacco, very soft acidity comes across. Spicy yeast shows but maintains a certain delicacy. The malts have a charred toffee flavor with a layer of old leather and earthy wood. The spiciness continues through the dry finish. Notes of tobacco are left on the the aftertaste. M - Low carbonation, medium body, wet middle body while finishing semi dry. This is the only vintage I’ve had so I can’t compare to a fresh one. The tangyness was more than expected and the fruit almost overshadowed the malts. Light oxidation was and added to the overall flavor. Good layering with a tangy fruit twist. 2011 Bottle. Pours dark brown with some ruby tints along the edges. No head. Aroma is cherry, dark fruit and a hint of oak. Taste is cherry, caramel, raisin, vanilla, toast and pepper. Syrupy mouthfeel that coats the mouth with moderate carbonation on the finish. Buttery diacetyl thing going on that doesn't mess up the flavor. This is very tasty and complex.

330 ml bottle and I am not really sure where it came from. Found it cleaning out my beer cellar. Pours a clear chestnut brown with a foamy tan head with two shades of tan. Aroma is ripe dark fruit, candy and ripe cherries. Taste of malt flavor and tobacco. ends like cough syrup run through a bong. Why every one likes these types of beer I am not sure. Some kind of mass hysteria.

Bottle at Craig’s, and several from my pre-ratebeer days. Hazy reddish brown pour. Aromas of ripe stone fruit, brown sugar, some Belgian yeast notes. Taste has it all, very light bitter linger. Nice

Pours a very dark brown, with a tan head. Lovely toasty aroma, almost smells like crystal malt and brown sugar. Pallate is well balanced, and the Belgianness of dark dried fruit and golden syrup still has a decent hop hit. Very tasty.
