Pannepøt (read Pannepeut) is a beer specially brewed and named as a wink to the Danish market presented at the Danish beer festival ’Københavnske Øldage 2006’ exclusively at Ølbutikkens stand. It is produced to express the brewers gratitude to all the Danish beer amateurs that drink their products daily. Pannepøt has later been available on draught and bottles at bars and shops in Belgium & Denmark. Since winter 2006, this beer’s popularity kept growing in Belgium at such a level that the production today equals Pannepot.

Slightly reddish brown with a quickly disappearing foam top. Medium carbonation. Taste is caramel, salt liquorice, alcohol, some sweetness and bitterness. Full body and finish is long. I can appreciate the complexity but had higher expectations

Dark amber body with low head. Aroma opens with evident alcohol, caramel, liquid candy sugar. Taste has high caramel sweetness, low earthy bitterness in the after taste, little bit astringent even. Body is full, medium carbonation.

Waow... Nose is roasted malt, sweetness, taste is rich and complex malt, candy sweetness.. An incredibly interesting beer I can’t wait to taste again ;-)

Pours a clear dark brown color with a larger semi-dense beige head. The aroma is pretty subdued but with plumjuice, malt and slight licorice coming through. The mouthfeel is pretty light with a soft carbonation. This 2010 version has a somewhat oxidiced quality if you can call it that.. The otherwise rather sweet malty profile has changed to a more bitter and metalic one. On the palate I find some tart dark fruit flavours, yeasty flavors, lots of dark caramel which get a little too bitter in th aftertaste in my oppinion. Will try this H2H with Pannepot in th future with a possible rerate in mind.

Tap@ZBF 2014-ZO (first sampled bottled 2012). Gorgeously balanced crema of Sirop de Liège-style prunes, figs and date essence, save their sticky sweetness. Basically a gently aged fruit sirup tartinette elevated into the realm of an post-prandial dessert essence instead of a stomache-filling breakfast. Dry caramel mouthfeel, made even more pleasant by the subtlest of oak notes. Usually a reserved fan of big cannons like this, but the brewing expertise (no abv whatsoever), smooth creamy texture and depth of range is a thing to admire in this modern classic.

330ml bottle. Attractive Mahogany. Sweet Belgium yeast aromas. Sweet, but not too sweet flavors of Brown sugars, Molasses, ripe dark fruits, and some Liquorice in the background. A little thin, the alcohol is meek. Quite tasty!

Deep copper colored beer with little dense blonde head. Aroma is sweet with liqueur, cake, caramel, ripe dark fruits and herbs. Flavor is sweet with herbs and roasted malts. Palate is foamy and thicker than medium. Finish has a mild bite of bitterness with quite short aftertaste of liqueur and syrup. Alcohol warms and feels but doesn’t taste or smell. Adding the yeast adds murkiness and yeast flavor. An enjoyable sweet dessert drink but a bit straightforward.

33cl served in a trappist glass as a back to back tasting with pannepot. Pours a (slightly) lighter colour than Pannepot. Same complex flavours and creamy mouthfeel. Ever so slightly edged by Pannepot but the slightly sour notes are quite welcome. Easier drinking.

Bottle shared with Lyoli in Gabrovo, Bulgaria - picked up in Belgium some time ago. Vintage 2010. Pours lightly hazy, deep brown with a creamy, tan head. Lots going on in the aroma, plenty of aged toffee, ripening dark fruits, raisins, berries. Medium to big sweet flavor with notes of molasses, dark cherries, plums, lightly leathery berries, dark bread, fruitcake, moderate alcohol. Medium to full bodied with lively, caressing carbonation. Finishes with light alcohol warmth, then more sugary bread, candied fruits, black currants, touches of cocoa and toffee. Lovely stuff. Great depth.
