COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pannepøt (read Pannepeut) is a beer specially brewed and named as a wink to the Danish market presented at the Danish beer festival ’Københavnske Øldage 2006’ exclusively at Ølbutikkens stand. It is produced to express the brewers gratitude to all the Danish beer amateurs that drink their products daily. Pannepøt has later been available on draught and bottles at bars and shops in Belgium & Denmark. Since winter 2006, this beer’s popularity kept growing in Belgium at such a level that the production today equals Pannepot.

Blind quad test against Pannepot, St Bernardus 12, Rochefort 10, Westvleteren 12, St Amatus 12, The Sixth Glass, & Chimay Blue My prefered order was; Pannepot, Rochefort 10, St Amatus 12, Westvleteren 12, St Bernardus, Pannepeut, Sixth Glass and last Chimay. This one has a bit of earthy aroma, not a lot of dark fruit bit licorice, oak, and almost bready. Taste is quite lingering and alcohol makes a small presence but disappears quickly, a lot of dark bread, a lot of licorice, and some bubblegum yeast character and chocolate inputs, one of the more complex quads, and has a superb mouthfeel.

2011 bottle. Dark ruby with very little head. Fruity, raisins, oak in the aroma. Very mellow and smooth mouthfeel, syrupy but not in a sickly sense. Sweet fruit and berry, wine-like and boozy. A nice after-dinner sipper.

2011 Bottle. Clear Reddish medium brown. Ring of beige foam, lasting with some lace. Inviting sweet and sorta dry aroma. Brown sugar, dark fruit, caramel, some spices, touch of alcohol. Flavor is sweeter with more brown sugar and spices than the nose. Lighter medium body. Mellow sweetness and some nice dryness and spiciness through the warming finish. Soft and a little sticky and just really lovely to drink.

Strong alcohol aroma, sort of like a red wine. sweet dark fruit, malt, a little caramel. Taste is surprisingly light and smooth. Color and aroma make it seem like it would be strong and harsher. Very smooth, sweet malt, a slight alcohol warming finish that comes on slowly but lasts quite a while. very nice.

05/04/2014 Ma che siete venuti a fà (tap). Bruna, intensa, impenetrabile, schiuma compatta color bianco sporco/beige, cremosa, molto persistente. Corpo pieno, carbonazione medio-bassa. Ottima davvero!

UPDATED: APR 6, 2014 Pours a hazy dark brown with a 1 finger, beige head. Aroma is dark fruit, burnt sugar, caramel, toffee, milk chocolate, boozy vinous notes and cherry bounce. Flavor is chocolate, dark fruit, rum-like sugary booze, earth, light woody notes, bread crust, spice, a little licorice and toffee nuts. Medium body, syrupy feel, light to medium, slightly sharp carbonation and slightly boozy finish. Really good stuff overall.

2007 bottle. Murky brown pour with some suspended sediment and a tan head. Nose is toffee, raisin, prune, dried cherry. Flavor is fig, green raisin, caramelized banana, light syrupy caramel and toffee, extremely faint roasty character and a light hazelnut quality. Maybe a touch of papery oxidation. Creamy/oily mouthfeel, with velvety carbo. Awesome to try this with so much time on it, however I think it has leaned out a bit too much and perhaps become a bit too oxidized. I think it’d be better around the 3-4 year mark.
