Pannepøt (read Pannepeut) is a beer specially brewed and named as a wink to the Danish market presented at the Danish beer festival ’Københavnske Øldage 2006’ exclusively at Ølbutikkens stand. It is produced to express the brewers gratitude to all the Danish beer amateurs that drink their products daily. Pannepøt has later been available on draught and bottles at bars and shops in Belgium & Denmark. Since winter 2006, this beer’s popularity kept growing in Belgium at such a level that the production today equals Pannepot.

What a pleasure to do my first rating at ratebeer with that magical beer !! Sorry to say that I’m belgian... But in fact that one was doing first for the danish market. Thank you guys !! Hopefully the production is now general. One thing to say FIRST: go and buy that one. It’s a pure mystery, a real "monk mystery". Aromas come in the first nose exactly like an irish coffee, full of sensations, infinite in complexity, nearly a trappist .... And the taste is extraordinary, full, nice, round, well balanced... What to say when you meet a prodigious beer. Try it is adopt it !! I have tried very nice beers in my life, and I’m not at all a guy to say that a product is the best in the world, but in that case, I’m really proud to give the maximum note to that splendid beer. Thank you very much everybody to let me give the first 5/5 for that beer on ratebeer. For my first rating, I’m very honoured that you let me do it. And I’m completely sure that others will follow... (Note please that the label on the webpage is that of the "pannepot", but we are speaking here about the "pannepeut". Label of this one is with a ship too, but in grey colour, on a grey sea. But it’s not grey in the glass !! )

Pours very dark brown amber. Tan head. Aroma is high: caramel, butterscotch, molasses, a tinge of chocolate. Soft and creamy, almost no CO2 (a virtue, not a problem, in this case). Sweetish, good metallicity. Long finish with almost no bitterness.

UPDATED: SEP 8, 2008 Dark brown/red pour with tan head. Aroma is of yeast, sugar, bubblegum, dried fruits. Flavor is of the same. Fizzy on the palate and very full bodied. After taste is tangy and fruity and lingers. Simply amazing brew.

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2010 Edit - Pannepeut 2007, bought from Alvinne. Brewed at Deca by De Struise. Poured into goblet glass. Strong presense of raisins; dried fruits, caramel malt, licorish, brown sugar and roasted malts. A lovely beer. Perfect for a Sunday roast which I will acompany it with. Pallet is smooth and drinkabilitiy is excellent. There is a sense of the alchohol on tongue but the alcohol is quite well hidden for such an epic beer as this. I love these beers and the De Struise brewers are world class masters. Cheers Carlo and Urbain. Don’t stop the good stuff. I can’t remember if I bought this at Alvinne or De Struise. Oh well. Edit. 14th November. Bags of plum; roasted malts, raisins, black liquorish, vanilla, coffee and a small portion of cream. Bitterness is awesome. Stunning.

33cl flesje uit 2010. Alcohol 10% Ingeschonken in mijn test tulpglas. Mooie romige schuimkraag.

330ml bottle (Label: Pannepeut 2010). Oversized glass. Enjoyed on jun´12. Dark brown color, dark amber to the light. Beige, close froth leaves a collar on top when dismissed. Toasted malts, caramel malts, chocolate hues, toffee & ripe figs to the nose. Spiced aromas –clove, vanilla, cinnamon- Flavor profile as aromas. Creamy maltiness, low bitterness. Fruity & voluptuous. Full body, soft carbonation. Ripe fruits & dried nuts showed in a lasting finish. ABV?? Who, cares?

Precious dark brown colour with a tiny head, shortlasting. Aromas and tastes to plums, sweet wine, prunes, cinnamon and a nutty hint. Perfect structure and development. Elegant, complex, delicious, unforgettable. In my opinion, one of the best beers worldwide. Colossal.

In the aroma I detect the mild smell of freshly baked bread and perhaps raisins. There is the sweet, but not syrupy, smell of alcohol. The appearance is caramel brown with a hint of orange. It is clear with absolutely no head. The taste was moderately sweet and quite pleasant. The palate is full bodied and complex with a thin drinkable texture. There was minimal carbonation with a lingering sweet finish. Overall this is truly a fantastic ale!

Light dry but sweet aroma. Sweet/dry brown ale; complex dry fruit with a nice coating, lingering grain finish. Dirty copper/brown color with an off-white head. Notes: 2008 Vintage

11.2 oz bottle bought in denver and opened into pint glass in San Diego. Looks super dark nut brown. Light slightly off white mocha thickness head. Superbly carbonated for 4 years old. Smells of old wood and roasted malts with tiny belgian style funk. Tastes like the best damn alt or even double alt beer i have ever had. On the palate it is pretty much dark thick old with some alcohol like a splash of awesome whiskey. Definitely gunna be on my top ten list of beers for several years at least. I wish this beer never ended! Overall 9.5 of 10 ... seriously!!
