3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Refrigerated 2011 brown 11.2 oz. bottle poured into a trappist glass. Pours opaque dark brown with small off-white head which dissipates quickly. Aroma is light candy sugar, medium body, low carbonation, little lacing, and slightly syrupy texture. Taste is dark candy sugar, molasses, some alcohol, and hints of dark fruit. I prefer the other Pannepots.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2011 bottle poured into a chalice. Pours a murky dark brown with a beige head of velvety foam. The aroma has esters, spices, raisin, dark fruit, plums, oak, some dry leather. The taste is a sort of spiced, sweet, raisin bread with a little bit of a bourbon glaze on it. There’s just a touch of heat coming through on the back end. Low to medium carbonation. Heavier bodied. Pretty nice beer overall, and a decent variation of the Pannepot lineup.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Starts with an aroma hot with spice and pregnant with molasses and dark fruity malts. Muddy brown color, still and headless, which I take as an ominous sign. Taste is bluntly, with some bitterness derived more from overall strength than hops I feel. Thick and slick all at once. Only a 2012 bottle..."I’m comin’ to age the lotta ya’s.....uh, I’m bad at this."

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
33cl Bottle: 2007 version, slightly out of date when opened on 22 Oct 13. Poured lovingly into a Westmalle chalice at home. I wanted to keep it longer, but I needed a ’good beer fix’ so extracted it from my aging stash and cooled it for an hour before broaching it.
Looks a rich, deep brown colour with a ruby red hue in strong light: on top a thin beige covering and collar.
The nose is a delight: sweet malt drenched dark fruits fill the air around the glass and make you want to dive in.
Dive in I did: the taste is divine: I love sweet malty brews and this fit completely into my style. Gorgeous flavours of spices, yeast and those sweet dark fruits blend together giving a wonderfully tasting beer that belies the 10% ABV it stacks.
Full bodied and a really lovely night cap.

Alcohol is not present. No sharpness in aftertaste. Very complex beer. Bit overwhelming. Excellent anyway.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a dark brown bit hazy coloured beer with notes of ruby red colour. The head is lightly tan and fading fast. On the nose aromas of dried fruits, roasted malts and some Stollen arise. Full bodied light fizzy fading quickly into a sweet tasting medium slick light watery texture. Well balanced as the aromas further develop and provide with the taste more notions like light caramel notes and dried fruits - fig notes. The finish is lingering on the palate for a while and offers a good aftertaste.
