Commercial Description:
"Vintage 2005"
Our PGR has aged for 24 months on oak barrels and has been bottled for the first time on the 27th of December 2007. The main difference with the Pannepot Reserva is that PGR matured the last ten months on Calvados oak barrels, adding extra complexity to the beer. We dedicate this beer as a tribute to Jeppe & Michael of Ølbutikken in Denmark. Those gentlemen were the first to discover our beers on an International basis back in 2004 and are responsable somehow for our beers being all over the globe since then. As a token of gratitude towards Jeppe & Michael, the first shipment of PGR was scheduled to Ølbutikken so they could be the first to launch its commercialisation.

From a 330mL Bottle. Tasted side-by-side with the other Pannepots. Dark brown, ruddy tinged pour with a healthy layer of creamy tan head. Lots of calvados aromas imparted to the beer, creating a bit of a vinous, dried fruit character. Notes of chocolate, spice, and tobacco present, but the calvados presence is a bit dominating. While still inviting, the more subtle nuances of the regular version are up-staged by the boldness of the calvados cask. Medium bodied, effervescent mouthfeel. Flavors of chocolate fudge, molasses, and hints of vanilla combine with some boozey stewed apples. Spicy oak contributes some dryness and light tannins in the finish. This certainly is a good beer, but the incredible complexity of the base beer is a bit lost in the presence of the calvados. While I can certainly see how this would be pleasant to some, it leaves me missing the beautiful malt and spice complexity of the regular Pannepot, which was clearly my favorite of the four versions tasted.

Bottle. A dark brown beer with a beige head. The aroma and taste is of sweet malt, dark fruits, wood and some alcohol. Medium to full body with a sweet fruity finish.

Beautiful...cloudy head that won’t quit, medium-dark cloudy amber with many white floating yeast bits, a woody, yeasty, spicy, somewhat grassy nose and a clean, somewhat minerally, dry flavour. Like one poster mentioned, a hoppy APA with Belgian Saison similarities, a bit different, definitely special, but not the best from the brewers. Still a great beer though.

Flaske.

Dark, dark brown and a good long beige head. Notes of oldness, sourness, old ale style, barrel, bread, but all with a weak attitude, not bad meant. Flavor is stronger with similar notes. Smooth and with a sour and good great finish.
