Commercial Description:
"Vintage 2005"
Our PGR has aged for 24 months on oak barrels and has been bottled for the first time on the 27th of December 2007. The main difference with the Pannepot Reserva is that PGR matured the last ten months on Calvados oak barrels, adding extra complexity to the beer. We dedicate this beer as a tribute to Jeppe & Michael of Ølbutikken in Denmark. Those gentlemen were the first to discover our beers on an International basis back in 2004 and are responsable somehow for our beers being all over the globe since then. As a token of gratitude towards Jeppe & Michael, the first shipment of PGR was scheduled to Ølbutikken so they could be the first to launch its commercialisation.

Small dark-beige head over near-black beer with ruby highlights. Slightly smoked, aroma’s of old books, slightly dried pipe tobacco, lots of liquorice, ivy, and discreet spices with pepper, nutmeg, cinnamon, some caramel. Sourish-sweet, with soup vegetables, coriander, more nutmeg, liquorice, oakwood, dark candi sugar. Dried fruits retronasal (apple, apricot, pear and grapes). Very well-bodied, very slick, just not syrupy. Leaves an oily film on the mucosas. Pity about the expressly liquorice part. Just a touch more acidity would do it a world of good - just as a 75cl bottle with some extra aging would do, instead of the 33cl.
Rerate for draught version Pretty similar, except for the nose, which is incomparably more complex, with notes of fine brandy, or better: single malt whisky. Would earn 9/10.

Dark, redish brown with a medium tan head. Lots of fruit and malt tones. Oakiness, wine, malt combined with high carbonation. Mediumto full body with a long dry finish.

Dark brown in colour with a thin beige coloured head, good lacing. The aroma is malty, light alcohol, maple, plums, dark fruits, lightly sweet. The flavour is of oak, some maple sweetness, quite malty, plums, raisins, figs, toffee. Sweet mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes lingering, malty and sweet.

Very good stuff, good balance, very well hidden alcohol. I just purchased a case of this beer, wise investment. This should age very well over the next couple of years.

330ml bottle obtained in a trade with henrikb, thanks Henrik.

33cl bottle. Pours brown with reddish highlights, thin, fizzy, tan head, no lace. Smells of slightly sweet wood and some malt with a good dose of alcohol as well. Tastes woody and malty sweet with lots of lightly bitter wood flavors lingering. Definitely a sippin’ brew. THe sweetness of the malts really pops through the middle but the wood is what lingers. Full body, good carbonation.

330 ml bottle. Dark brown body with a beige head. Aroma is sweet malty, caramel, brown sugar, dry fruit, spices with a hint of vanilla and smoke. Flavor lives up to the expectations of the aroma. Sweet malty, caramel, mild smoke, vanilla, dry fruit, syrup, liquorices and a tiny hint of acidulous that just suits this beer perfect. A classic.
