4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Thanks to fredrik and Ludvig!
Very dark reddish brown with a beige head.
Aroma: malty, sweet licorice, apples and calvados, light chocolate, vanilla.
Taste: Basset’s Liquorice Allsorts and other sweet licorice, chocolate, malty, fudge.
Wow, this is tasty!
Aroma: chocolate and lots of vanilla, less licorice than in the 2008.
Taste: vanilla, cherries, rowan berries, licorice, more sour than the 2008, also some sort of sour candy.
Medium to full bodied.
On its own, the 2005 bottle would receive a lower rating due to the sour red berries in the taste. Nothing wrong, I just prefer the other. (8-9/4/8/4/16=4.0-4.1)

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
2009 vintage. Pours dark brown with a thin beige head that’s short lived. Aromas of raisin, chocolate, caramel, prunes, oak, molasses, laquer, leather, spiced brandy. Wow. Taste is medium sweet, with medium bitterness popping up then fading while the fruity sweet hangs about for a long full finish. Medium body, a little oily, nice carbonation. This has a level of complexity and balance above even the 2010 Reserva I have tried, and more again over the standard Pannepot. Quite exceptional!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pitch black, no head. Aroma of plum, dark fruit, berries, alcohol, oak, red wine. Taste is similar, oak more intense, caramel and chocolate. Soft to flat carbonation, creamy texture, medium body and medium sweetness. Complex and interesting one.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
2010 vintage from Belgium in a Box - Rich deep ruby body, thick off white head. Aroma is a light combination of candied sugar, spice, cinnamon, oak and alcohol. Flavour is consistent with the aroma with raisin, caramel, sweet malt, an alcohol tingle with little sweetness and acidity on the finish. Smooth and light feel and a creamy texture of the body of this beer makes it fully bodied. Really quaffable.

Bottle@stapabar. Dark brown, clear. Very nice, rich plum dark fruity, soft oaky nose. Full bodied, quite balanced, though, easy. Good dark fruits, strong malty sweetness, oaky leathery. Full of flavours, but nice balanced easy..

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
2009 bottle. Thanks ShroudofDoom!
This was poured into a chalice.
The appearance was a dark ruddy brown color with a slim white head that dissipated to a soft glaze of lacing. It slid nicely.
The smell had a soft sweet dark fruit with a light sweet cherry, a little bit of coffee and a light chocolate shaping the aroma nicely.
The taste was mainly sweet through the previously mentioned flavors and gave an extremely sticky dark fruity aftertaste leading to a sweet wet fruity finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a decent sessionable quality about it. The carbonation was barely there but that’s okay considering this was a 2009 bottle. Sweet smooth sticky notes cling nicely to the feel of the beer over my tongue.
Overall, oh wow, what a wonderful Belgian Strong Ale. For fans, this should be on everyone’s list.

Bottle. A lot like reserva with more fruit flavors and barrel character. Dark brown. Complex and delicious.

Bottle. Another dark brown / ruby pour with a little off white head. Similar to the Reserva but adds a little more fruity sweetness and spice. Base beer still shines through. Very nice.
