"Vintage 2005"
Our PGR has aged for 24 months on oak barrels and has been bottled for the first time on the 27th of December 2007. The main difference with the Pannepot Reserva is that PGR matured the last ten months on Calvados oak barrels, adding extra complexity to the beer. We dedicate this beer as a tribute to Jeppe & Michael of Ølbutikken in Denmark. Those gentlemen were the first to discover our beers on an International basis back in 2004 and are responsable somehow for our beers being all over the globe since then. As a token of gratitude towards Jeppe & Michael, the first shipment of PGR was scheduled to Ølbutikken so they could be the first to launch its commercialisation.

Bottle (2009) at the Elm Tree, Cambridge. £10(!) but what the hell, YOLO and all that. Murky purple brown, a thin film of light brown head. Pure alcohol, figs, dark chocolate, molasses in the aroma. The taste is a tempered sweetness with just enough bitterness creeping through. Bittersweet muscovado sugar and cooking chocolate aftertaste. Warming alcohol in the finish which envelopes you completely. Dried fruit bittersweet aftertaste. The right amount of tongue-tickling carbonation. Nothing short of incredible.

In bottle (2009 vintage); aroma is oaky and smokey, with a subtle sweetness. Taste is sweet and syrupy, quite bull bodied with a fruity finish .. overall a very nice beer indeed

Calvados barrel-aged Pannepot and distributed more widely than its predecessor Pannepot Reserva. Pale beige, sticky, creamy head, relatively stable, colour a hazy dark reddish brown. Gracious, powerful and seductive bouquet of chocolate, caramel, walnut, dates, old ’jenever’, oak, almond, cloves, banana, cinnamon, coriander, old port wine, cider... Soft, rounded palate, dark fruits, very full, profoung maltiness, nutty, caramelly and chocolatey malts, refined sweetness but nowhere cloying, retronasally very woody, tannins, vanilla and warming calvados in a subtle way, further supported by the same drying coriander and aromatic hops as in the regular version. Fantastic brew, they even succeeded in improving an already great ale - this version easily belongs to the best beers in its style.

330 ml bottle, vintage 2009, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10%. Very dark brown colour, moderate beige head. Strong aroma of malts, brown sugar, caramel, spices and oak, only a hint of calvados. The flavour seems slightly less sweet than the Reserva, more refined and rounded, still malty with distinct notes of spices and oak, hints of chocolate, vanilla and calvados. A very fine beer.
