COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Vintage 2005"
Our PGR has aged for 24 months on oak barrels and has been bottled for the first time on the 27th of December 2007. The main difference with the Pannepot Reserva is that PGR matured the last ten months on Calvados oak barrels, adding extra complexity to the beer. We dedicate this beer as a tribute to Jeppe & Michael of Ølbutikken in Denmark. Those gentlemen were the first to discover our beers on an International basis back in 2004 and are responsable somehow for our beers being all over the globe since then. As a token of gratitude towards Jeppe & Michael, the first shipment of PGR was scheduled to Ølbutikken so they could be the first to launch its commercialisation.

330ml brown bottle. Black colour, off white head is stained by yeast flecks. Decent lacing. Nose is slightly winey, notes of alcohol, some cherries, slight woody notes. Flavour has cherry and wood notes up front, hint of chocolate, soft fruity notes. Dry and woody finish. Aftertaste is very oaky, woody, lingering dark cherry fruit notes. Full body, tight precise carbonation on the tounge. Overall, strong, woody and winey and very pleasing. Great extension to the Pannepot brand.

Pours headless with an opaque body. Nose of a whiskey, citrus rind and fig. Perfectly blended after a decade. Candied sugars, plum, rich red wine. Delicious!

330ml bottle. @home 25-01-2014.
Labeled as "Pannepot Grand Reserva Vintage 2009".

In short: tasty dark strong ale.
Pours quite dark with nice creamy, quite tan head, dense and compact. Moderate head retention, some lacing. Roasty, malty, spicy, liquor, wood aromas. Medium body, average to soft carbonation, viscous texture. This is a robust beer, rich palated, some sweet, raisins and plums, some liquor notes, also some wood and roasty notes. All of them really well balanced, ending in a very smooth and enjoyable dark strong ale. I had it at home during a cold winter´s night, perfect timing!.

Pannepot parallel tasting.
Pannepot Grand Reserva 2005
Dark murky brown colour with a tiny light tan head. Still a bit lighter colour than the Pannepots. Dark fruits, plums, sweetness, woody dryness, mild sourness, nougat and chocolate in the aroma. Soy sauce, peanuts, dark fruits, papery dryness and dryish malt in the flavour. Thin. Almost watery. How can a 10% brew be watery?

Bottle from MOMH. Dark brown, clear, next to no head, syrupy viscosity. Rich fruitcake aroma, dates, tea loaf - rubensaft. Moderate carbonation to lift the stickiness. Rich and roasty initially but then a smack of caramel sweetness, Christmas cake, mixed spice, banoffee pie, mulled wine, apple skins. Absolutely no perception of booze at any stage, perfectly integrated barrel character.

Heel donker van kleur, de kraag bruist enorm bij het inschenken maar is zo weg. Ziet er dan niet goed meer uit. Ruikt zoet, caramel. Smaakt idem met een portachtige bijsmaak. Niet heel veel body. Heel doordrinkbaar, heb ’m al leeg. Gelukkig heb ik er nog meer ;-)

2006 vintage. The beer pours dark reddish-brown with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily to a dense outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, malt and yeast. Full-bodied with an oaky character and flavors of plums, figs, caramel malt and oak. The finish is fruity with a plum and oak aftertaste. Enjoyable beer all around.

2009 vintage from the bottle, with thanks to bytemesis for bonusing this to me. Sampled next to 2011 Pannepot. Lovely clear brown pour with ruby highlights and minimal head that dissipates quickly. Aroma: bread, dark fruit, caramel, cherry, toffee. Much like a quad. A delicious, delicious quad. Taste is malt-driven, sweet without being shallow or sticky. Minimal bitterness. Palate: full- body; soft carbonation; smooth texture. Overall: honestly these are quite similar - if I had them blind, I couldn’t tell which is which. Which is fine because these are both delicious.

Vintage 2009 Pitch black, small but long-lasting beige foam; dark fruits (mostly blackberries), caramel, candy, woody, roasty, some well hidden alcohol, intense and complex; medium(-) bitterness, lightly sour, quite high sweetness; full body, smooth feel, quite soft carbonation, very long bittersweet fruity finish; Overall: great

Bottle 2005 Vintage. Cellared for 5 years. Wow! Does this mature beautifully . If you can lay your hands on some -grab it . All the complexity you expect from Pannepot and much more. For a beer bottled 7 years ago - as good as it gets.
