"Vintage 2005"
Our PGR has aged for 24 months on oak barrels and has been bottled for the first time on the 27th of December 2007. The main difference with the Pannepot Reserva is that PGR matured the last ten months on Calvados oak barrels, adding extra complexity to the beer. We dedicate this beer as a tribute to Jeppe & Michael of Řlbutikken in Denmark. Those gentlemen were the first to discover our beers on an International basis back in 2004 and are responsable somehow for our beers being all over the globe since then. As a token of gratitude towards Jeppe & Michael, the first shipment of PGR was scheduled to Řlbutikken so they could be the first to launch its commercialisation.

2005 vintage (first ever I think). Brown brew as per bottle with a small white head that doesn’t linger too long. Aroma is full of sweet candi syrup and almost no barrel notes (I would have thought it would be a barrel bomb but it isn’t...). Mouthfeel is watery compared to the regular Pannepot and carbonation is low-medium which is nice. Taste is sweet with a sour edge. Flavors of molasse and again close to none Calvados notes. The sourness must come from the barrel though and maybe Calvados just doesn’t blend well with this kind of brew. It is good and enjoyable, just not meeting my somewhat high expectations for a barrel aged Pannepot. Might be because it was bottled in 2007 too.

Pannepot grand reserva 2010, bottle, 33cl. Bottiglia forse non conservata benissimo, purtroppo. Poca schiuma, aroma ottimo, inferiore alla pannepot normale ma sempre una gran bevuta.

Olmost black with a small white head - Malt aroma with dark fruits in there as well - Good sweet malt body with dark fruits with some hints of wood and wine - The dark malts and fruits goes into a long finish with some nice alcohol heat to go with it - This was real good

Bottle 2008 courtesy of George at the Hoppy pub in Greece. Thank you. Pours chestnut skin brown color, brownish minimal foam disappearing quickly. Nose: macerated cherries (under spirit), dry fruit, wood. Balanced and elegant. Great. Mouth: mirroring the nose but a bit on a basic side, more syrupy, frizzy-peppery finish.

33cl bottle (vintage 2010) from Vinmonopolet Stovner, Oslo. Pours clear deep mahogany with a small, beige head. Lovely fruity and malty aroma with dried dark fruits, apples, caramel, candy sugar and hints of chocolate and spices. Sweet, complex and simply delicious! Very balanced and surprisingly smooth mouthfeel with a medium long aftertaste . Some notes of alcohol and wood, but very well integrated. Delicious stuff!

Vintage 2010
WYGLĄD: Barwa ciemnobrunatna, nieprzejrzyste. Piana drobna, niska, krótka.
AROMAT: Intensywny. Wiśnie w alkoholu, śliwka suszona, rodzynki, ciemna gorzka czekolada , przejrzałe jabłka. W tle nuty beczkowe (wanilia).
SMAK: Likier z suszonych owoców leżakowany w beczce - tak najkrócej można opisać to piwo. Posmak gorzkiej czekolady. Alkohol świetnie ukryty w smaku, choć z czasem uderza...do głowy.
OGÓLNIE: Bardzo dobre. Aromat świetny, w smaku też niczego sobie, ale jednak czegoś ideału brakuje...

330ml bottle [2010 vintage]. Darkest brown colour with an intimation of a ruby red glimmer and average, frothy, reawakening, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Fruity and chocolately aroma, lots of dried fruit, raisin, prune, fig, a touch of oak and balsamico, apple-Calvados-wood. Taste is moderately sweet fruity, notes of dried fruit, raisin, prune, fig, fresh fruity notes as well, red and yellow apple, a touch of baked apple, Calvados, an oaky touch, milk chocolately fill-in, off and on slightly vinous; in the finish cautious hints of warming alcohol. Full body, soft palate; rich and complex, mild and balanced. Almost easy drinkable due to its harmonious composition.

Bottle from West Lakeview Liquors (Chicago, IL). 2010 Vintage. Pours a deep brownish ruby hue, mahogany purple ruby glow hits the body. A firmer haziness, dark middle with just a hint of rubyfire on the edges striking nicely. Frothy tannish head atop is decent sized, a nice layer sticks around but dies quicker, mellow ringer atop is smaller, concise with solid lacing atop. Aromas are lovely and deep, darker candi sugars, biscuit and touches of caramel meet some mellow spiciness, yeasty life and jabs of allspice, black cherry and dried fruit. Some oaky presence, depth with tannic vanillin. Candy sugars, gentle estery fruit as more cherryskin, some oak and spirit life through that depth and deeper sweetness. A bit of cakey sweetness, chocolatey and vanilla and mellow cherry, faint anise and spiciness still hanging on. Initial is medium bodied, a bit more full with some tannic woody depth, gentle caramel and brown sugar, touches of plum and dried fruit, black cherry and spiciness. A mellow yeasty life, allspice and anise, almost a cool spiciness really with that yeasty zest. Caramel, a bit of fudgey chocolate and earthiness, tannic oak and a bit of yeastiness. Toasty, cocoa jabs and a coolness as we round the corner. It’s amazing how light on the palate this ends up, complex and deeper flavors with a nice tannic element throughout without overbearing or ending up brooding. A bit of cola, cherries, dark and a bit pulpy with some some nice depth. This ends up tantalizingly drinkable despite it’s hefty ABV tag. A bit of stickiness lingers, darker and a bit toasty, tannic with some faint residual sugars and barrel lingering nicely, subtle spice, carmelized malts and some dark fruit and cocoa. Really nice damn stuff. Well done. Totally see why this is a classic. While the nose ends up a bit mellow, this thing is delicious, deep and complex with good balance and goes down really easy.
