3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
2005 vintage (first ever I think). Brown brew as per bottle with a small white head that doesn’t linger too long. Aroma is full of sweet candi syrup and almost no barrel notes (I would have thought it would be a barrel bomb but it isn’t...). Mouthfeel is watery compared to the regular Pannepot and carbonation is low-medium which is nice. Taste is sweet with a sour edge. Flavors of molasse and again close to none Calvados notes. The sourness must come from the barrel though and maybe Calvados just doesn’t blend well with this kind of brew. It is good and enjoyable, just not meeting my somewhat high expectations for a barrel aged Pannepot. Might be because it was bottled in 2007 too.

I'm amazed over the high point for this beer.
It is tannic and overly oaked. A bit oxidized (ever so slightly) has an unpleasant bitterness to the palate. This is one of my biggest disappointments.
