4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle 2008 vintage. Bought this some time ago and have only just got around to drinking it. The wait was worth it. Dark brown with a small head.Lovely port like flavour with a gentle creaminess running through it.
Amazingly smooth for its strength-wanted the bottle to last forever.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rödbrun nästan svart med. Torkad frukt och fikon lite jäst i doft. Intensiv smak och fyllig munkänsla. Len och trevlig, lite samma smaker efter en hel flaska

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
2009 Vintage and happy to get a chance to rate this on a cleaner palate. Much thanks to willrunforbeer. Dark brown color no head. Aroma is very nice, massive dark fruits (raisins, dates, figs) with a definitive amount of spice and notes of yeast.
Just a great sipper all the way around. No alcohol in the flavor. Full body with the malts and yeast giving the dark fruit and Spice hints that are very balanced. No one aspect of the flavor over-powers another. The most impressive thing is at 6 years old it shows no oxidation or flaws. That actually really amazes me. That being said, it is a top Belgian strong ale with good reason.

11.2oz, 2009 vintage. Pours dark brown with a surprising beige head. Aroma is brown bread, raisin, cinnamon, spice. Wow! Flavor is off the chart! Sweet, raisin, date, cinnamon, spice. Molasses finish. Amazing for a 6 year old beer.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a black body with a brown beige head. Starts out light, quickly bringing on a taste of oak along with roasted notes of chocolate and caramel, with small hints of coffee.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
330mL bottle from Beer Cartel. Vintage 2010
Sort of surprised I overlooked this beer - always figured there was just 1 Pannepot, and that was it.
Deep, nearly opaque bronze beer, holds a creamy tan head.
Decadent, almost fortified wine-like nose to it- burnt toffee, earthy dark candy sugar, licorice, lots of raisins, date, dried figs, sultanas, prunes, yet still plums and blackcurrant esters in there too, savoury clovey spices, black pepper and nutmeg, and old oak.
Carbonation is quite high, smooth, slighlty velvety, rich body yet doesn’t give away too much of that substantial abv, just a flirting of warmth.
Richly complex palate - dark brown sugar, bruised apple, sultana, freshly ground nutmeg, burnt fig, nutty old port-like rancio, dried leafy herbs (almost like bay or sage or something). Bitterness relatively high for style, really long drawn out finish.
This is the sort of ale you’ve gotta take your time, hide away in a dark corner and just thoroughly enjoy every drop of. Sitting in front of a roaring place seems apt enough for this tasting. Needless to say, this is just fantastic!

4.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Aroma is dark fruit/grapes and a real hint of heat/alcohol. The flavor is dark fruit, grapes, malts, mild heat, slight funk and a mix of sour and caramel sweetness in the finish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
2010 vintage (from beergium.com). Pours brown with beige head. The head doesn’t stay. Aroma is sweet, apples, malt, oak, raisins, and some alcohol. Flavor is sweet, malt, oak, cellar, fruits. Overall: very good.
2005 vintage (shared by FatPhil, thanks!). Pours similar to fresher one, aroma is sweet, buttery, oxidised, more raisins. Flavor is sour, fruits, wood, oak, malt, some sweetness. Overall: I liked the fresher one a lot more, it was more intense. Rating for 2005 vintage: 6:3:7:3:14=3.3

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2010 vintage bottle fomr the Trembling Madness in York. Pours mahogany with no lasting head. The aroma is port, oak and booze. The taste starts with a little sweetness and light spice before flavours of raisin, port, wood, leather and tobacco. Loads of flavours going on. Quite a boozy too, but enjoyably so. Quite high carbonation. Great beer.
