Ughsmash (2814), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Sep 10, 2007 Bottles thanks to Mads and Marsiblursi, 2006. Rating #1900. Poured a very, very deep brown with a tall, well-retained cap of medium beige head.. left some nice lacing as it descended. The aroma picked up sweet, warm raisins and other dark fruits with a substantial oak presence.. lightly-toasted all-around with warm rummy notes especially at the back-end.. warm, complex, and engaging! The flavor found rich darker fruits and caramel at the core with light herbal hoppage.. sour oak serves as a lovely contrast/accent piece leading to the warm fruity finish. Heavier-bodied with nice carbonation.. creamy middle with sour oak accents.. complex.. warmed the belly. This is a very well-crafted brew!
RomanW70 (270), Providence, Rhode Island, USA Jul 15, 2008 Had bottle at Delerium Tremens on 6/22. One of the best beers I’ve ever head. Aroma of dark fruits, dark caramel, spice, and licorice. Taste is even better, sweet, but with notes of wine, wood, spice, and dark fruits. An exceptional, exceptional beer. Zinister (830), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 13, 2008 Thanks to MaltOMeal for this 2006 bottle! Shared with MaltOMeal and thickfreakness. Pours a dark brown with a tan head that leaves pretty lacing. Nose is brown sugar, pitted dark fruits, oak and winter spices, including nutmeg. Strong fruit flavor of plums and figs. Sugar and white pepper give extra levels to this beer. Palate has a rich sweetness and covering mouthfeel. This is a well layered beer...enjoyed every sip. Thanks for sharing Bill. Viking_Hammer (287), Lynnfield, Massachusetts, USA Jul 11, 2008 Pours a dark red with a big white head. Aroma of oak, caramel and some spice. Sweetness balanced with oak and lots of alcohol. Similar to the original but a bit sweeter. Still a nice beer Belgisk_Olklub (205), Viby J, Denmark Jul 1, 2008 Bottle 75 cl. shared with my self - delicious. Perfect large creamy light brown head with excellent lacing. Lightly cloudy dark brown body. Heavy malt aroma of caramel and grain, oak barrels, heavy alcohol and light hops, brown sugar and spiced - coriander? Full creamy body and soft carbonation. Heavy sweet flavor and light bitter. A great beer. bgburdman9 (702), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jun 28, 2008 An old rating i finally got to entering. Aroma was a little oaky, malty, belgian yeast. A lighter body than the regular pannepot but overall not as good as the regular. Still a great beer.
