COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Pannepot Reserva was an idea from my brew collegue Carlo who wanted to age Pannepot in genuine French oak barrels (barrique 225 liters). We have brewed 90HL at the end of 2005 which has been aging on oak ever since (14 months). 30 Hl was bottled Tuesday 8th May 2007. 60Hl has been transferred now to second hand calvados oak vessels and will be bottled again early autumn 2007, we will name that batch Pannepot Grand Reserva. As quality and results rule at Struise, the Reserva was already brewed again and aging on oak.

Simply perfect. Nothing to envy to Rochefort 10, even to Westvleteren. Undoubtedly, one of the best beers I’ve ever had. Colossal, impressive, superb...a unique beer.

2009 vintage. Rich and sweet aroma. caramel, dark fruit, bit of alcohol, some spices, something roasty. Tastes about the same. smooth and creamy. Supremely balanced. Aroma plus malt and some earthy/woody taste, which mixes dry and sweet flavors.

2010 vintage. Dark brown/black pour with the aromas hitting me as soon as I cracked the bottle. Big aromas of malt, yeast, dried fruit, and oak. Really complex. The flavor doesn’t disappoint either, rich and robust. A really great brew, the oak aging seems to have brought out the best in this one!

2009 vintage - rated 6/12/13. Dark brown with meadium creamy lasting brown head. Fantastic rich and delicate aroma; sweet and complex; caramel, dark fruit, touch of alcohol, some spices, a bit of roasty/coffee. Flavor follows right through. Full body; luxurious, smooth and creamy. Supremely balanced. In comparison to the regular brew, this is more mellow malt presence with a definite woody character, adding a bit of dryness to the sweet/bitter/alcohol balance.

Draft of the 2009 vintage at a beer event at Eulogy in June 2013. Dark pour. Syrupy body. Lots of strong intense barrel aged goodness. The deep red fruit in the normal Pannepot has darkened and caramelized. Very, very rich! Brandied cherries. Caramel raisins. Vanila bourbon. Chocolate prunes. Notably higher alcohol than expected but the aging has smoothed out the finish. Tremendous!

2011 Bottle. Pours a murky dark brown with coarse, light brown head. Settles in minutes with no lacing. Aroma is fruity, plum, stone fruit, mild alcohol. Flavor is fruity, plum, fig, dark stone fruit, with a malty, toffee, and mild alcohol finish. The alcohol is well masked as expected, beer is very well balanced. Soft carbonation with a medium body and smooth texture. Dark, fruity, rich, a tasty brew.
