bgburdman9 (822), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jun 28, 2008 An old rating i finally got to entering. Aroma was a little oaky, malty, belgian yeast. A lighter body than the regular pannepot but overall not as good as the regular. Still a great beer. fiulijn (7150), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Jun 14, 2008 Syntetic cork Dark chestnut color with a rocky big head, maybe exaggerated carbonation. Aroma of malt, caramel, some spices and light raisins, woody and sweet. Full bodied, with a powerful caramel flavor, quite sweet, with some woody touch that makes it more complex, and the alcohol is well hidden. Some sweet liquorice is evident mostly at the end. Excellent. badbeer (432), Iowa, USA Jun 11, 2008 Reddish brown color with a beige head and good retention. Aromas of clove, cinnamon, strawberries, and figs. Tastes of caramel, spices, dark fruits, and apples. Unfortunately the taste is also a bit metallic, so I’ll take away some for that. Medium body and carbonation. An enjoyable beer, and without the metallic tastes to it, would be much better. GoudgeleRakker (1), Netherlands does not count May 31, 2008 This tasted great. I’m curious how long you can keepthis beer.
I just drunk the vintage 2005. 31-05-2008. Indeed a bit of a oak flavour.
Perhaps i buy a few and keep them to try them every year. Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 27, 2008 Updated: Jul 22, 2008In short: A big heavy sweet candy in a bottle. Superb.
How: Bottle 750ml, shared by tertons with sunevdj and I. Drank about 1 year after the beer release. Thanks a lot Nelson!!!
The look: Cloudy light brownish body with a long-lasting medium off-white head
In long: Just like the regular Pannepot this one has a strong candy feeling. Crisp sweet red liquorice wrapped around dried fruits of all kinds. Big heavy trappist-like malted and yeasty body. Some spicy hard candies in there too. Barrel aging did change the taste but I didn’t get much wood/barrel in the taste if any at all. Seemed crisper with a stronger spiciness sensation than the regular Pannepot. Also present was a little sweet Sherry wine flavour and a much welcomed light cherry sourness. Don’t know which one I prefer, I’m rating this one higher right now but I’m due for a Pannepot re-rate since I like it more and more very time. Thanks again to Nelson for opening your cooler in exchange for floor-space at my hotel room. That was an excellent deal to me, usually people who offers beers like that don’t ask to sleep on the floor, they ask to sleep in my bed and do dirty things to me… and I say yes :( JensenTaster (1585), Denmark May 12, 2008 (on bottle)Deep, chestnutbrown/red, beige head. Caramelsweet, with some chocolate and a ton of maltinfluence. A very short carbonation and a very sweet, prunish taste. Not that balanced, very dominating dark fruits in finish, witch has a lack of carbonation, hence gets pretty watery. Exected a whole lot more from this baby. pepsican (883), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA May 12, 2008 Thanks iowaherkeye for the opportunity to try this rare gem. Cola brown pour with a thick brown head. Aroma was very malty with some metal. Flavor was brown sugar, malty sweetness, metal, clove, vanilla, popcorn, butter, and alcohol. Finishes awkwardly sweet but with a mineral blood thing going on. mjs (1445), Helsinki, Finland May 11, 2008 (2006 vintage tasted on 2008-03-23) Deep dark brown. Sweet malty nose with some chocolate and salty liquorice. Taste has some roasted malts, caramell, sweet sugar, chocolate, salty liquorice and fruitiness. Some spices. Fine beer.
