Taste is full of bite in the use of bready yeast, soury sensibility, and woody brown sugar. Char is noticeable from the calvados barrels. Great retention and full head. The best of the three Pannepots.
akevitt (97), Valhalla, Minnesota, USA Apr 18, 2008 Thanks to olso2116 for sharing this treat! I had been rating for about a month when I had this beer, so my notes were a bit skeletal. The beer was hazy dark brown with an ample amount of tan head. The aroma was complex, with some spices, mild sweet fruit, and alcohol. The flavor was similar, but I also picked up on some mild oaky sourness, along with something that I couldn’t quite put my finger on... It might have been cardamom. Definitely would like to try again. yumyum (118), barrie, Ontario, Canada Apr 9, 2008 Updated: Apr 13, 20082006 dark brown with creamy beige head Aroma complex, vanila, slight fruitiness, The flavor also has a lot going on. Sweetness of a caramal, slight woodiness and fruitiness. Very flavorful beer. One to sit and savour. Alcohol provides a warming sensation but doesn’t disruspt the taste. Very nice DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Apr 1, 2008 (3/4/08) Bottle shared with some American guy whose name I can’t remember at Kulminator in Antwerp. 2006 bottle. Very dark brown, almost opaque, with a medium beige head. Vinous fruity (raisins, prunes) nose with malt and hints of yeast and alcohol. Sweet flavor with malt, caramel, dried fruits and hints of wood. A semi-dry finish with some spice and alcohol. Medium to full body. Great stuff.
