2009 11.2oz bottle drank September of 2012. Deep opaque brown-burgundy body. Thin beige head, fades into an oily top layer that rims the glass. Sweet and rich, this is definitely World Class. Brown sugar, caramel, toffee, oak...very nice. While it is big and rich, there is also a lot of finesse, the oak really complementing the big malt tones. Nutty toffee oak tones, delicate mouthfeel, with a hint of bitter dark liqueur, As good as it gets, great beer.

Pours dark red with a big tanned head. Smells of prunes, raisins, dark fruits, hints of caramel, a touch of oxidation and malts. Heavy sweet, dark fruits, dried fruits, caramel, toffee, oak and malts. Moderate bitter finish. A very excuisite beer; it got alot of vinous qualities and a nice oak touch.

(4/20/13) ’09 Vintage. The nose is bourbon soaked dark fruits - beautifully blended - with a hint of green apple. A bit of spice too. Any oak seems to have faded however. I would have liked the nose to have been stronger, but I imagine that age has subdued it somewhat.
The taste is really subtle and complex. Anything that may have been dominating or overpowering in this brew was quelled by four years in the bottle. Again, bourbon soaked dark fruits. Most of the heat of the bourbon is gone leaving a smooth, slightly woody bourbon sweetness. There’s a tannic, slightly sour (in a good way) quality that manifests near the finish.
The mouthfeel is super smooth. This brew goes down dangerously easy. There is a nice pleasant warmth in my chest and a bit of burn at the back of my throat.
What a wonderful brew and simply a pleasure to drink. Easily the best bourbon flavors I’ve tasted in a brew. However, I’d imagine the regular Pannepot has more overt complexity because barrel aging tends to dominate my palate.
