4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JUL 21, 2014 Dark brown color with beige medium-lasting head. Aroma is like the regular Pannepot, but much more intensified, ripe fruits, figues and raisins, chocolate, toasted malts, hazelnuts and spices are present. Taste is not as intense as the regular one, but is sweet, with toasted malts, caramel, cherries, plums, vanilla and spices. Very balanced, with well integrated alcohol. Dry finish, with coffee hints.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle: 2010. Thanks, Ryan. Deep, deep brown, outlined with a ruby edge. Burnt khaki foam softly rests on top. Aroma of steely, toasted caramel malt, lots of residual sweetness & burnt sugars, a touch of must that almost hints at oxidation. Some dark fruit. First sip is full of sweet brown sugar & toasted caramel candies. Toffee, deep layers of macerated prunes & raisins. Hints of anise, molasses, & burnt sugar. Warmth brings out a mild phenolic character. A touch of floral & fruity esters in the finish along with a heavy burnt toast flavor that lingers. A decent beer, but I just don’t "get" this one, I guess. Liked it, didn’t love it.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle 2010, exp. 04/05/2019. A very dark brown beer with a weak and beige head. The nose is complex and very enjoyable. Lots of dark fruits, prune and dates, some raisins, also fresh strawberries, herbal hops, also wood and dry barrel with vanilla, hint of alcohol. Taste has lots of dark fruits, prune, raisins, strawberries, strong herbs, drying wood and barrel with hint of vanilla in the end. Similar taste and aroma. Medium bodied, mild carbonation, fresh even that strong. Great beer. Complex, creamy, smooth and incredibly balanced.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
2009 bottle. Deep dark reddish brown colour, beige foamy head. Nose is big on acidic wine tones along with creamy malts, brown sugar and red fruits. Taste is also big on wine notes lingering on in the (dry) aftertaste, with creamy malts, vanilla, dried figs and dades and red fruits, gingerbread, clove and other spices, chocolate, brown sugar/caramel and coffee: complex, too say the least. High alcohol grade is indeed well disguised. Medium bodied (regular Pannepot is better bodied i.m.o.), low carbonation, soft and oily mouthfeel.
