The beer pours to a really hazy unfiltered dark brown body with a dense tan head. Nice sheet lacing. The aroma is very strong with spicy fruit cake, white pepper, caramel, spices, cinnamon, candied cherries, and oak. Very complex and quite nice. The flavors are sweet malts, nicely blended spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, fruit cake, candied pineapple, and maraschino cherries. Ultra complex. Oak. The palate is delicate, nicely textured, warming, spiced, and slick. cgarvieuk (4171), Edinburgh, Scotland
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Sep 9, 2007 Deep brown ... little smokey malts ... Very simelar dark malt fruit richness to the normal ... lots of deep fruityness ... little woodyness from the oak ... little non bitter chocolate and just a touch of zeztyness and tiny citric bust I found this and the normal to be very slighly different making each distict but could not seperte them as one better than the other. These two beers were my top choice in an evening that included Narke Kaggen, Westvltern 12 and Nogne Dark Horizon so truly a stunning beer. Id also like to thank Carlo for the bottle. Dark brown colour, nearly black, large tan head. Malts and farmhouse aroma. Malty sweet flavour (drank it too warm though), cloying. BBB63 (4228), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 3, 2007 Bottle 2006, many many thanks SS and served in my NB worthy glass: A slightly murky chestnut brown with a fading off-white head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of oak and vanilla bean, earthy and herbal yeast esters, tangerine zest, grassy hops and a hint of cinnamon vapours. The taste starts sweet and malty but a kick in the teeth of twangy fruit comes about to play and rounds off the palate nicely. The finish displays a lot of spice and herbs in an almost Saison like character. The mouth feel is sprite and mildly aggressive, vinous but not in a good way. Much like the "basic" Pannepot I am a tad underwhelmed by this brew. Strangely my problem with regular Pannepot is it is too sweet and the Reserva is not sweet enough....go figure!
That said it rocks when added to the pan (deglase) of my dinner of penne pasta, aged marinara, and spicy andouille cooked to a moderate charred BBQ like taste! rlgk (3377), Vårgårda, Sweden

To say i was disapointed would be an exstreme understatement. The oak aging seems to have taken all of the amazing subtle pannepot character away and givemn it sweetness, alchol and over ripe fruits. Still an axcellent beer but the ordinary pannepot is sooo much better.
