The Pannepot Reserva was an idea from my brew collegue Carlo who wanted to age Pannepot in genuine French oak barrels (barrique 225 liters). We have brewed 90HL at the end of 2005 which has been aging on oak ever since (14 months). 30 Hl was bottled Tuesday 8th May 2007. 60Hl has been transferred now to second hand calvados oak vessels and will be bottled again early autumn 2007, we will name that batch Pannepot Grand Reserva. As quality and results rule at Struise, the Reserva was already brewed again and aging on oak.

Bottle pours muddly dark brown color with off white head. Aroma is awesome. Ripe dark fruit, butterscotch, toffee, caramel, and a stickly sweetness that seems to linger. This stuff smells so good I couldn’t stop smelling it. Just awesome. Prickly carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors follow the nose. Upfront has the caramel and toffee sweetness. Its not cloying. The middle has dark fruit notes, and it finishes with a alcoholic hot bite. This was a great beer from start to finish. Outstanding.

Barwa: ciemna, pod światło rubinowa, lekko zmętniona. Piana beżowa, drobno pęcherzykowa, średniej wielkości, ładnie oblepiająca szkło. Aromat: początkowo nieco, drewniany i lekko waniliowy. Jednocześnie kwaskowy i alkoholowy z akcentami rodzynek, czekolady, kawy, karmelu, ciemnych słodów oraz cukru kandyzowanego. Smak: zdecydowanie pełny, dość słodki, z czekoladą, rodzynkami i kandyzowanym cukrem na czele. Następnie bardziej wytrawne, jakby palone akcenty i niewielka goryczka.

Bottle courtesy of bytemesis, thanks Mike! Pours a murky brown/copper, golden/rust colored hues. Minimal eggshell head. Aromas are very delicate, with brandy sweetness, dark fruit, spice/yeast and light oak. Taste is more pronounced than the aroma. Waves of molasses, dark fruit, notes of apple brandy, oak and cereal. Light spice and roast couple with a lingering sweetness. Incredible balance to this...and incredibly smooth in the finish. Great beer!

33cl bottle. Pours dark brown with a moderate beige head. Superb and complex aroma with notes of chocolate, dark fruits, caramel, spices and a heavy sweetness. Flavor is heavy sweet again with notes of chocolate, dark fruits and light coffee. Yeasty and coffee aftertaste.

One of the best gets better. Bottle shared by Rich from 2008 series. This one aged very well, still as smooth and slick as butter. Dark dried fruits, yeast, typical Belgian ale but oh so tasty.

"more similarities than differences in the Pannepot, Reserva, and Grand Reserva, and that after having all 3 side by side...and different years of each. This was a 2009...all 3 are among my favorite belgoan beers. I’ll take any of these over a Westy or Bernardus any day. Mellower on the carbonation and yeast, rich and smooth. Dark fruit abounds. Excellent!"

2009 33cl bottle. Pours dark brown with two fingers of beautiful creamy beige head. Smells of caramel, molasses, dark (plums, raisins, dates) and dried fruits with some alcohol chocolate cake aroma. Taste adds toasted note with coffee, burnt sugar, light spices and some alcoholic and liquor-like flavors. Excellent.

Vibrant light Cola brown, ringed eggshell head. Creamy hardware clove and cherry. Initial taste of clean tinny bitterness, furry tart toward the middle. Clean and complex. Drenched sweetness and easy on the barrell finish.

In bottle (vintage 2010): pours a dark brown. Aroma of malt and fruit, with some cocoa. Taste is similar with coffee notes added .. very good coffee though I am finding all the Pannepots are tasting the same .. good thing they are good beers

UPDATED: SEP 16, 2014 2008 bottle. Cloudy brown, tiny offwhite head. Aroma has malt, fruit, vanilla and port. Flavour is similar, sweetish with brown sugar, clear notes of oak later on. Alcohol is definately present, but well controlled.

Bottle shared at Cardinal, Stavanger. Bottle labeled "2010". Pours dark brown. Aroma of raisins. Can’t taste the difference to the "normal" Pannepot.
