The Pannepot Reserva was an idea from my brew collegue Carlo who wanted to age Pannepot in genuine French oak barrels (barrique 225 liters). We have brewed 90HL at the end of 2005 which has been aging on oak ever since (14 months). 30 Hl was bottled Tuesday 8th May 2007. 60Hl has been transferred now to second hand calvados oak vessels and will be bottled again early autumn 2007, we will name that batch Pannepot Grand Reserva. As quality and results rule at Struise, the Reserva was already brewed again and aging on oak.

Bottle pours muddly dark brown color with off white head. Aroma is awesome. Ripe dark fruit, butterscotch, toffee, caramel, and a stickly sweetness that seems to linger. This stuff smells so good I couldn’t stop smelling it. Just awesome. Prickly carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors follow the nose. Upfront has the caramel and toffee sweetness. Its not cloying. The middle has dark fruit notes, and it finishes with a alcoholic hot bite. This was a great beer from start to finish. Outstanding.

2009 33cl bottle. Pours dark brown with two fingers of beautiful creamy beige head. Smells of caramel, molasses, dark (plums, raisins, dates) and dried fruits with some alcohol chocolate cake aroma. Taste adds toasted note with coffee, burnt sugar, light spices and some alcoholic and liquor-like flavors. Excellent.

Vibrant light Cola brown, ringed eggshell head. Creamy hardware clove and cherry. Initial taste of clean tinny bitterness, furry tart toward the middle. Clean and complex. Drenched sweetness and easy on the barrell finish.

In bottle (vintage 2010): pours a dark brown. Aroma of malt and fruit, with some cocoa. Taste is similar with coffee notes added .. very good coffee though I am finding all the Pannepots are tasting the same .. good thing they are good beers

UPDATED: SEP 16, 2014 2008 bottle. Cloudy brown, tiny offwhite head. Aroma has malt, fruit, vanilla and port. Flavour is similar, sweetish with brown sugar, clear notes of oak later on. Alcohol is definately present, but well controlled.

Bottle shared at Cardinal, Stavanger. Bottle labeled "2010". Pours dark brown. Aroma of raisins. Can’t taste the difference to the "normal" Pannepot.

Coffee bitterness, chocolate, light alcohólico touch, some grain, leathet, subtle resin and raisins. Wood, subtle bitterness. Spicy. Taste starts sweet chocolate with a full oily feel. Creamy and nutty. Evolves info fizziness, with souwood and leather. Alcohólic, fizzy sweetness. Saltiness. Dry clear finish. Beautiful balance.

The first Calvados barrel aged version of Pannepot, of limited production. It boasts the same incredible complexity, finesse, tempting bouquet and greatness as the regular Pannepot and more, with the emphatic oak tannins and vanilla adding a considerable amount of additional complexity. Dried fruits, sweet tobacco, sherry, bourbon, walnuts, calvados, balsamic vinegar are all there - and very intelligently blended. I must do a side by side tasting of this and the Grand Reserva but from memory, both were equal in absolute divinity.

Pours a dark brown body with a thin head. Aroma of bread, burnt candy and wood. Very rich taste with all the malty flavours you can think of. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
