COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Pannepot Reserva was an idea from my brew collegue Carlo who wanted to age Pannepot in genuine French oak barrels (barrique 225 liters). We have brewed 90HL at the end of 2005 which has been aging on oak ever since (14 months). 30 Hl was bottled Tuesday 8th May 2007. 60Hl has been transferred now to second hand calvados oak vessels and will be bottled again early autumn 2007, we will name that batch Pannepot Grand Reserva. As quality and results rule at Struise, the Reserva was already brewed again and aging on oak.

08 bottle in a lovely Odell skinny tulip - perfect glass for this beer. Flows into the glass with a deep ruby tint which subsequently is nearly overwhelmed by deep brown. A foamy tan head sits on top. The nose packs a punch - candy sugar and bubblegum are dominant, with raisins, figs, plums, and caramel assisting and a hint of musty oak alongside. The flavor is less sugar-dominated and carries through more of the fruity, malty tones - raisins, chocolate brownies, dark cherries, plums. Finishes smooth, rich, and velvety with a little hint of tannins. The palate is smooth as butter the whole way through - perfect carbonation on this one. The head is quite persistent, especially considering its lower carbonation level. All in all, this beer satisfies nearly every whim a beer drinker could dream up. Regular Pannepot is great, too. But this one takes the cake.

this is the 2008 version. Poured a seriously dark brown with a quickly disapating head. Big heavy aroma of date and fig and belgian goodness that puts a smile on my face. Carbonation is perfect with this one and it really coats your palate. Flavor is very sweet with the same fig/date flavors sprinkled with some spicy notes, maybe nutmeg, lasting long after you finished. I really liked this one.

Wow. Has aroma of dehydrated plums, cherry and a bit of port wine. It’s dark, non-transparent. With amazing beautiful head. The head looks like it was nitro carbonated. In taste - honestly, I was speechless. There are notes of plums, chocolate, cacao with a note of port wine. In mouth it feels highly carbonated. It’s very drinkable cuz alcohol is unnoticeable. The body is rather small and thin.

33cl thanks to ruigo. Thanks for this beast! 2010 bottle. Color is dark dark. Head is thin and brownish. Body is medium, light carbonation. Taste is light to medium sweet, medium bitter. Aroma is roasted, malt, caramel, coffee, fruit. It’s very good, but I was expecting even better!

Bottle, 2010. Hazy dark brown with a medium-sized lasting beige head. A rather powerful aroma with sweet malt, woody barrel notes, both fresh and dried fruits notes (figs, raspberry) and spices (clove, cinnamon). Complex, inviting. The flavour is smooth, sweet, fruity, and dry. The dryness comes from the barrel. Warming alcohol. A really very complex and lovely beer.

Pannepot Resrva 2010 : bottle from saveur-biere.com A brown robe with a tint of ruby red. The head was deep beige. On the nose a strong aroma of prunes, apricots, candy sugar, toasted wood, figs and hints of French pain de epices. On the mouth, it begins with a burst of candy sugars followed by dried fruits, roasted nuts(almonds), tasted wood and hints of english fruit cake(plums and cinnamon). The finish is long with an after taste of figs and candy sugar. This is a complete whole meal beer. Excellent brew.

2009 vintage. Similar to the Grand Reserva (or is the grand reserva similar to this haha). Fruity and roasted nuts in the aroma and taste, goes down great, however I thought the Grand Reserva was just a tad better.

12oz bottle (2010 vintage) pours dark toasted brown black with small thin head and tons of floaties. Nose is fruity plum, grape, earth, wet soil, touch of roast, multi grain bread. Taste is creamy smooth mouthfeel, red grape, grape jam, plum, some subtle roasty bitter chocolate notes. Finish is more of the same with lasting roasty fruit, dark grains, some vanilla. Complex and nice.
