24th September 2011 Borefts Beer Festival 3. Hazy brown beer. Residual tan head. Palate is a little dry with fine carbonation. Sweetish malt with a trace of toffee caramel. Nice minerals. Fresh tasting! Just a trace of the port barrel but its there providing subtle red fruits. Finishes semi dry with some lacto. Very nice indeed!

Dark brown. Not much head. Dark fruits and alcohol. Lighter body than I would have thought. A little too much alcohol for me, but with enough age it would be mellow and wonderful.

Sampled from the tap at Three Floyds XV. Poured a clean black with a brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a good amount of dark fruits, with notes of dark grains and roast backed by a nice port note. Flavor again had a nice combination of dark fruits and port with backing sweet dark grains and a bit of molasses.

Draft on tap at FFF XV Party (Munster, IN). Pours a roasty blackish brown pour with good frothy offwhite head, laces small. Aromas are crisp toffee and caramel and vanilla, touches of red fruit and oak. Initial is red fruit, cherries and raspberries, a touch of boozy cough syrup, vanilla, oak, toast, and sweet malts. Middle is a bit coughy syrupy, more red wine tannins, caramel and toffee, vanilla, touch of spice. A nice touch of booziness, vanilla. Red fruit. Finish is just a touch a tart, red fruit, a bit artificial, oak, and sweet malts. Ok, a bit cough syrupy but the oak and Port element are well received. Would like to try again, it’s a bit inviting beer.

draft, huge thanks to Urbain and Struise for coming through with a rare tick for XV... looks much darker than regular pannepot, dark brown, not much of a head... the aroma is really sweet, you get tons of the port, very spirity, I like it... the taste is a touch to sweet, a bit long in the barrel, if it was less time I think the base of dark fruits would have cut the sweetness a bit better, still an excellent beer

Draught @ Borefts 2011. Dark brown color with a beige head. Dark fruity aroma of plums, raisins, caramel and vanilla. Dense body, with medium carbonation. Sweet, with a roasty, dry finish. Very nice one.
