| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 16, 2009 Big thanks to Brigadier. Pours a dark, opaque brown with a tall, dense tan head, good lacing. Vinous aroma, hints of coffee and clove. Flavor is an amazing malt bomb, heavy on the dried fruits here, raisin, fig, lots of toffee and other caramelized elements. Some smoke on the finish. Spices round out the flavors and lend a smoothness to the palate. Definite heat to it. Carbonation is more foamy than spritzy. mikalooch (163), , New Jersey, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 13, 2009 Pours almost pitch black with a nice tan head with decent lacing. Aroma is almonds, raspberries, and spice. Definite toffee presence with banana, nutmeg, and brown sugar. Thick mouthfeel and leaves a sticky residue. Overall an outstanding beer, very different kind of belgian strong, it doesnt come cheap though. daniele (1672), Italy

Aroma is funky, medium malt-toffee/maple sugar, tart fruit. Interesting. Taste is medium malt-toffee/maple sugar, wood, tart fruit, spice/herbal hops. Nice sipping beer, goes down easily. Good effervescence. Kind of a Belgian Strong Brown. Thanks to Wasatch for trade with Joe-jwc215 & me. kwatoko (30), Belgium

Pours with a firm brown head, the beer itself is very dark brown. Aroma is sweet, with strong traces of liquorice. First taste is very sweet caramelly, with some spices added. In the aftertaste there’s just a small hint of hops, with the caramel-taste sticking in your mouth somewhat. jbuzz (659), South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
