4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 LordDrachen (107) - reggio emilia, ITALY - NOV 8, 2010
Hazy deep brown colored with light brown head. Aroma is very intense and complex: chocolate, prunes, cherries, strawberries, liquor, spicy. Taste is also complex, with a intense malty sweetness and sherry aftertaste, light bitterness, long mouthfeel. Full body. Rather near to perfection for my mouth.
More drinkable than most of his counteparts in this style.

Pours brown, tan head. Yeastie, leathery aroma laced with cinnamon and a bit of Brett. Flavour gives a great blend of Belgian yeast character married well with the added spices. Seems like the Brett is slowly taking over the flavor. A nice and unique beer.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 kbutler1 (1078) - Minnesota, USA - OCT 15, 2010
Bottle. 2007 vintage. Pours a deep reddish brown color with a very big fluffy, fizzy 3 finger tan head that slowly settles. This has a slightly sour smelling dark fruit aroma. Some booze notes evident as well in the smell. Very light mouthfeel with some carbonation. Dark fruit, spice, and a slight sourness fills your mouth as you take a drink. Slight bitterness along with the sweetness. Lingering warmth from the booze. Overall, not bad but just as I remember having this beer before, the light mouthfeel and overcarbonation I feel really distracts from the wonderful flavors this beer has.

2007. Leaps out of the bottle. Molasses, brown sugar, date aroma. Medium, lively head that dissipates rather quickly. Thick, syrupy, deep dark brown appearance with a sedimenty bottom. Mid-level sweetness with an almost bitter finish; pretty fizzy.

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2010 A strangely complex beer with all kinds of spices and half of the medicine cabinet in it. Licorice, plums, caramel, coffee, banana.... something like phenols that some whiskies have. Also it’s like someone is mowing the lawn in your mouth. Relatively sweet.
EDIT: Tämä Old Fisherman’s Ale on erittäin musta, vaalean ruskealla vaahdolla varustettu olut. Tuoksussa on karamellia, paahtunutta mallasta, lakritsia, banaania, rusinaa, mausteita, luumuja ja vain vähän alkoholia. Maku on alkoholiin vivahtava, kevyesti hiivainen, luumuinen, banaaninen, lakritsinen ja kypsän hedelmäinen. Kai tähän on puoli lääkekaappiakin uponnut. Suutuntuma on rikas ja kohtalaisen hiilihappoinen.

UPDATED: OCT 10, 2010 33 cl bottle, aged for three years in room temperature. Murky reddsih-brown beer with a huge beige head. Aroma is very complex: earthy Brettanomyces, herbal/medicinal and slightly peppery spices, rhum-like dark sugars, ripe berries, a hint of licorice and salt. Tastes drier than one might expect. Well aged flavor, a hint of milk acidic sourness and brett character. Dryfruit sweetness and balancing saltiness of dark malts. Some sour chocolate in the finish. Strong without being alcoholic at all. Medium bodied, low carbonated palate. Very complex, rich beer to sit down with. One of the greatest beer experiences that I´ve had.
