Commercial Description:
In the early 1900s, the village of De Panne, close to the French border, was famous for two things -- the ‘Pannepots,’ or fishing boats, that could be seen along the coast, and the unique dark ale enjoyed by the local fishermen. Our Old Fisherman’s Ale is a tribute to these hardy sailors and their rich, flavorful brew. Unfiltered. Unpasteurized. Bottle-conditioned in 33cl and 75cl.

Bottle, courtesy of Noize. Brown-red colour, tan head. Aroma is of dark ruits and caramel. Flavour of dark red fruits, chocolate malts and caramel. Nice long finish. This is great stuff.

Vintage 2007. Pours a cloudy dark brown with a large firm tan head. Rich aromas of brown sugar and spices and rum-raisin ice cream. Full bodied without belying its alcohol content. Smooth and silky. Chocolate and fruit and spices with a strangely vinous character. Big but not imposing. Sweet but not cloying. Complex yet still balanced and approachable. Delicious.

330ml bottle. Pours beautiful mahogany with light tan head. Aroma is dark fruit, brown sugar, caramel, chocolate, and sweet malt. Flavor is complex with sweet malt, brown sugar, dark fruits, nut and a little chocolate. Mouthfeel is perfect with soft carbonation but full palate at same time. A beautiful ale that I am glad to finally glad to try.

Bottle purchase from the Four Firkins tonight. Bottle was a gusher, glad I was paying attention and had a glass ready. Poured chocolate brown with quite a bit of effervescence. Aroma slightly of alcohol and dark fruit. Mouthfeel was almost that of a slightly less bubbly champagne. Flavor was initially spicy and peppery, and eventually mellowed into a rich and brown sugar flavor. Make sure to pick up a bottle if you can find one.

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Starts malty and strong, sweet. Becomes then much drier, notes of strong coffee and liquorice. Mild finish. Really well done.

dark fruits abound in both the nose and taste. The aroma in particular is infused with numerous layers to it. Extremely enjoyable.

Crushed with Jakebra. Dark fruit aroma. intense mother flavor, maybe even a hint of metallic flavor in there? Complex and overwhemling. Badass.

Dark brown with medium white head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel and nuts. Malty and well-balanced, with hops and spice. Good complexity. A winner!
