4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 TET (685) - FINLAND - OCT 8, 2010
Beautiful, very dark-brown beer with great, big and beige head. Aroma is very delicious and quite sweet, fleshy, dark fruits, plums, some port wine and roastiness. Flavour is also very complex, dark fruits fireworks with lot of sweetness, however, flavour is balanced because of some herbal spicyness that dries the flavour. Nice and slippery to drink with some warming alcohol. Very complex and tastefull beer, every moutful tastes slightly different; great, quite sweet beer.

Bottle:
Big off white foamy head, disappears slow.
A nice brown colored beer.
Smell dark fruits, sweets, some darker ingredients and spices.
Taste is thicker and (imo) better than the other special Pannepots I had.
Cough syrup/old man’s ale like with hints of dried dark fruits, brown sugars, toasted ingredients, yeast and hint of liquorice and hops.
A well balanced (no direct alcohol taste) and fine full sweet/light bitter tasty beer!

Vintage 2007, thanks SpenceDB
Appearance: Pours a red tinted dark brown with large bubbly head, that quickly dissipates to a micro stripe of white.
Aroma: Warm, flat coke, wild cherry, ginger and a medicine cabinet, perhaps some funky yeast..
Taste: A sweet and sour cherry tart twang, noticeable roasted malt, nutmeg and ginger spice finishing slightly funky ,dry and bitter..
Mouthfeel: Sticky with medium carbonation..
Overall: A treat, and good chilled all the way up to room temperature. This would pair well with cheese or chocolate.

Sweet and smooth. Pours a dark color with a brown head. 10% and 2007 version. Alcohol is very well hidden by the delicious flavor of the ale.

Bottle@home (2007) Pours clear dark brown, with big caffee latte colored dissapearing head. Aroma is ginger, prunes, , typically belgian sour yeast, raisins and malt. All in all, wery rich and complex. Taste is also wita’ a lot of impressions, like mature dark fruits, dark malt, yeast, sourness and a nice warming mouthfeel from the 10% of alcohol. The carbonation is average - yummie.

Pours a dark brown colour with a small, beige and thick head. Rich aroma of dark fruits, Belgian yeast, chocolate and light hoppiness. Medium sweet flavour of chocolate, fruits and loads of different kinds of spices. Medium/full bodied, oily texture and decent carbonation. Long and dry finish. Excellent brew.

UPDATED: AUG 27, 2011 2006 330ml bottle. A fizzy pour brought me a mahogany and opaque headless brew. Big malt and caramel aromas with plumbs and dried fruits. A subtle hint of anise and cocoa are noticed. Body is full and creamy and a lightly dry finish. Carbonation is present yet softened. The flavor here is beeter than I hoped for and a fine example of what aging a good ale can do. Rich and complex showing notes of berries, plumbs, caramel, licorice, cocoa and malt. It really is quite a nice blend. Thanks to Sloth (Bert) for the bottle! 2010 release, 330ml bottleA dark mahogany cloudy concoction. Nice fluffy beige head. Looks even more impressive than the Rochefort 10 I just finished. Cocoa powder in the nose along with some dried fruit, figs impressive as it is young. Creamy body, fair carbonation. Lightly bitter, lightly dry. A beer you want to talk about even at this young stage. Roasted coffee flvor melds with dried fruits, really has some depth and I can’t help but put the rest of the bottles away for a few years. Get this while you can.
