Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Sep 8, 2008 Pours a murky brown with minimal tan head. Nose is dark fruits, toffee, spicy yeast and alcohol. Taste is all spice, ripe plums, brown sugar and raisins with a sweet, alcohol finish. Medium, prickly mouth feel. Good stuff. nhorween (639), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 8, 2008 Updated: Oct 4, 20082006 bottle. Dark chestnut/mahogany pour with a soapy khaki head. Belgian yeast and toasty malt in the aroma - lots of fruit complexity. Dates, pear, cider. Some faint bittersweet chocolate. Mildly spiced background with a sweetness and nuttiness up front. Flavor is quite complex also - toffee and toast. Overripe stone fruit through the middle of the flavor which gives way to offensive effervescence and then alcohol. Minimally bitter. Maybe a tiny bit to sweet to be called balanced, but still excellent. Classic BSA, excellent beer. Rerate - really a rich beer. Sweet and honeyed flavor. Earthy and musty. Great beer. baggio (195), norrtälje, Sweden Sep 8, 2008 Bottle@home, 2006 vintage

Palate: Thick and creamy with medium carbonation.
Oh man. A beer that actually lives up to it’s reputation. This beer made me feel all happy inside as i slowly sipped away on it. Incredibly complex and well-tasting beer. Best one in a while! gary07734 (391), Tyne & Wear, England Sep 7, 2008 Updated: Aug 17, 2009Pours a deep, dark brown-black, dissapearing tan head. Smell is warming and cozy, spices, yeasty and roasted malt. Taste superb, lots of spices, cinnamon, dark fruits, raisens, pine, oak, xmas pudding sweetness with malts, yeast and a pleasing slight hoppiness in the finish. More flavours than you can shake a stick at, a moderately alcoholic finish. An excellent and unique beer that gets better every time (I originally had this beer at about 4.5 but I’ve tried 4/5 bottles since and it gets better every time). RichardGretton (3131), Leicestershire, England Sep 6, 2008 Bottle. Black beer with a malty and roasted aroma, and a very rich and malty flavour. Overall a nice rich and roasted beer. GAManiac (1123), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Sep 5, 2008 Updated: Oct 15, 2008Pours dark, dark mahogany brown with a rocky one-finger tan head that lingers for a while leaving lots of lacing.
The smell has a huge sweet caramel malt base with tons dark fruits in there, figs and grapes with a complimentary candied sugar sweetness. I got some spices in the nose but not a dominant aroma for me.
The taste has more of the spice character with an opening candied sugar and dark fruit sweetness. There is a heavy roasted malt backbone in the middle with spices lingering in the finish with a faint sour hint as well. Very complex flavor and quite enjoyable.
Mouthfeel is incredible - smooth enough to coat your mouth with flavor, but with enough carbonation to keep it dancing on the palate.
This is a big, complex beast of a quad and one of the best I’ve had. It’s definitely a sipper but one that I highly recommend. MitchWayne (264), Kokkola, Finland Aug 31, 2008 Chocolatey brown colour and lovely foam make this an enticing looking beer and the enticing aroma makes me want to take an everlasting dive into my duvel glass. Roasty, sweet aroma with raisins and a vinous quality really got me all teary eyed, i had to restrict myself because i was in the company of men. The taste, oh the taste, there is everything in here that I want. The palate is perfectly soft, the rich malty taste, fruits, chocolate, so many notes here that i stop counting and just enjoy the hell out of the experience. So to make a long ramble tolerably short, I am gay for Pannepot.
