Struise Pannepot

"2006" bottle, best bf. apr 2010 aroma: aged beer, raisins, dark fruit. when i opened the bottle, the beer really wanted to get out so some of it spilled to the floor. pours almost clear brown with a sizable nutty-brown head. great taste, a little aged beer over this one, but just a little. dark fruits and spices. alc. not present. aftertaste is super, the fruits vaporiza slowly leaving a roasted note behind. best "aged beer" type i ever tasted. still, i don’t like this type.

Aroma of bread, cream, barley wine, raisins, red wine. Pours a dark brown beer with a frothy brown coloured head. Taste is sweet, vionus, some burn and smokiness. Some carbonaton. Gives a warming feeling. This beer is a really big beast and definitely a sipper. The 10% is respectably kept at bay. This would suit a really gamey meat. Top notch.

This will be a comparison against my review of the Reserva. Read that for the baseline. Altogether better than the Reserva. The flavors in this are just a bit more clear and not muddled whatsoever. While this has no barrel aging characteristics or the wine notes of the Reserva, this is still wonderfully complex with a great spice/brown sugar/raisin taste. Not quite as complex as the Reserva, but the flavors here mesh better and make this a truly delightful beer. Highly recommended.

Very dark beer with a fast to disapear foam. The beer is a tipical struise with strong cnaging flavors and personality. Malt, dark fruit, bitter and dry. Very complex. Very long aftertaste which asks for slow drinking. Another fine struise.

33 cl bottle; 2006. Dark, opaque brown color with a huge rocky tan head. Aromas of dark fruit, like dates, and roasted malts. Medium body with sweet notes of light stone fruit and treacle. It goes on like that, and the finish is lightly sweet, but nearly dry. It’s not a bitter finish, but it is incredibly tasty. Wonderful ale.

Had many Pannepots in Europe, but the one I rated was on tap from Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fà in Rome on 7/6. Just a beautiful beer, almost black caramel color with a thick off-white head. Aroma of cocoa, caramel, and dark fruits. Similar taste with additional vineous notes. A beautiful beer that deserves a place along Westy 12, St. Bernardus Abt. 12, and Rochefort 10. Great, great beer.

Malty start and finish. nice dark color. rocky head that dies off sooner than later. coats your entire mouth with a caramel like texture. one of the best brews so far.

Pours murky black with a medium head. Dark fruit aroma with raisins and aniseed. Toasted malt flavour with more dark fruit and a gentle spice finish. Soft and full body. Very nice, complex and elegant.
