joshwilfong (769), Cleveland, Ohio, USA May 4, 2008 pitch black with tan head. incredibly complex flavor of raisons, toffeee, caramal with some subtle alcohol complexity but very well tolerated. amazing beer austone (999), Turku; Pori, Finland May 4, 2008 2006 bottle. Dark brown with thick and big head. Amazing lace. Nose is coconut, pineapple, cherry wine, calvados, slightly port vinous and alcoholic. Quite exotic. Flavor has dried fruits, ripe banana, port wine, almond, roasted malts and slight dash of hops. A bit of everything, but still somehow restrained. Strong, but warming alcohol. Bittersweet and tannic palate. Medium to full bodied, smooth enough carbonation. Sounds amazing, but overall a bit too alcoholic. So we’ll meet again in a couple of years, some sunny day. MaltOMeal (642), Land of Sugar, Texas, USA May 3, 2008 2006 bottle. Pours dark with huge tan head. Great lacing. The smell was of bread, vinous fruit and spices. Taste was of spices, bread, vinous and other dark fruit. Mouthfeel was medium and very smooth with slight carbonation and slight bitterness up front, but not at the finish. This was complex waves of flavors and mouthfeel that was luxurious to the senses. Fantastic! blutt59 (2042), Dallas, Texas, USA May 3, 2008 bottle, 2006 vintage, decent light brown head, very fruity with tastes of raisins, espresso and malty sugars, not overpowering plovmand (1590), Helsinge, Denmark May 3, 2008 2006 bottle. Pours dark brown with nice pearly light brown head. In nose plenty of prunes and other dark fruits. I catch coffee and herbal stuff here too. Creamy smooth mouthfeel. Fantastic spicy taste of brown sugar mixed with dark fruits. End up with the warmth from the alcohol. mar (1740), Rowlett, Texas, USA May 2, 2008 2006 bottle courtesy of Bhops. deep chocolate brown with a thin cream head. dried fruits, malts, alcohol and brown sugar on the nose. incredibly smooth and the flavors are all over the place from roasted malts to fruits. downender (2537), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England May 2, 2008 2006 Bottle from Bier Tempel, Brussels. Huge, lively pour with a chestnut brown colour and massive, yet short-lived, tan head. Lots of floaters too. Aromas of liquorice, brown sugar and dark fruit. Flavour was sweet with plenty of malt, nutmeg and some earthy hops that added depth to the finish. Alcohol was fairly prominent, which perhaps detracted a bit from an otherwise excellent beer. HopheadHans (753), Bay Area, California, USA May 2, 2008 Bottle at Kulminator. Pours with a dark brown color, aromas are of some spice that I cannot name. Some spices in the flavor profile, fruit and a bit of a kick add to the usual caramel and molasses profile. This is unique beer that has a very smooth finish.
