dankman38 (228), Somewhere in, Ohio, USA Sep 19, 2007 Updated: Dec 6, 2007Deep brown color with a tan/brown head, the flavor is quite spicy and a wee bit sweet (soy with sugar, mollasses and cloves), finishes strong and the body isn’t too heavy but far from light. Good on a cold day, or a hot day with air conditioning; this really is a world class beer! tjthresh (1748), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Sep 18, 2007 11.2 ounce bottle provided by thiesti
Served in a Delirium Tremens tulip. Pours a dark opaque brown with a initially large tan head. The head fades to just a little layer, but it lasts.
The aroma has bits of grape, soy sauce, cherry, wood, fruit pits, caramel malts, yeast phenols, and herbs. I picked up a sugary wine-ish note when warmed it bit more.
The initial flavor I pick up is clove. Coco, toffee, pepper, and cooked sugars with a touch of alcohol. Slight bitterness in the finish.
Medium body, with a silky texture and a nice touch of carbonation.
This beer is very appropriate for a day when you are home with a sick child! Thanks Tim!

Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Sep 17, 2007 Pours deep dark clear amber with explosive root beer float head. The aroma is full and starts very fruity with sweet Concord jelly, cherries, boysenberries and plums. Soon after the aroma turns more spicy. I get gingerbread cookies, cinnamon, hints of nutmeg and ginger snap cookies. The initial influx of fluid burst across the palate due to the high level of carbonation creating a tart experience. Then afterward the fruitiness wells up with Concord grape jelly, cherries, boysenberries and sweet juicy plums. Midway the varying spices kick in with both ginger bread cookies and ginger snap cookies along with cinnamon, nutmeg, licorice and beats. Wow, lots of flavors that ride into the after taste in harmony. D-Licious brew. nightrider (370), encinitas, California, USA Sep 17, 2007 Poured from a 2006 bottle. Bountiful tan beige head on top of a ink black brew.Modest aromas of belgian yeast and dried fruit. The beer is velvety smooth and creamy on the palate. Flavors of rich smoky coffee and fig and plum.Sweet malty barley and sugar. Nice long taste stays with you to enjoy.Moderate alcohol presence. Overall an oustanding complex flavorful and easily enjoyable brew. Can’t wait to store some in the cellar also. thomat (666), Göteborg, Sweden Sep 16, 2007 Bottle fom 2003, thanks to Urbain ! Very dar, redish brown with meium tan head. Malty and fruity notes. Taste is full of coffee, plums, chocolate and port. Medium to full body with slightly sweet finish. We also tasted a bottle from 2006. This was very good, but it is clear that this beer gains quality with storage. charlotte (1997), Vanlřse, Denmark Sep 15, 2007 Almost black colour with beige head.Aroma of dark dry fruits and spicey, gives a warm feeling of strong alc.A real killer but great. First off I have to preface this by saying that Quads are not exactly my thing and I haven’t had a lot of experience with them. That being said...
My friend tasting it with me says it looks like coca-cola, and I have to agree. Nose is totally odd and unique and extremely complex. At first I thought it smelled like old, concentrated cotton candy. Then my friend pointed out that she thought it had a fragrance like banana Laffy Taffy (which it certainly does). There is just a load of things going on with this nose. Flavor is spice forward. Very sugary sweet like brown sugar and a slight biting alcohol presence. After a swallow and it settles on my tongue I get a heavy coffee aftertaste. The feel has a coffee flair to it as well. Like old coffee that was brewed with five times too many grinds. Extremely drinkable. But this puppy is heavy of course and I bet after some time in the cellar, it would even out and be even better. Highly suggested.
