Amazing beer - as thick as treacle with a milk-stout character. Lots of liquorice, aniseed, sweet malt and caramel but still balanced with a roasty dryness. The huge alcohol is well hidden but makes the finish a massive explosion of flavour. Complex, rich, thick and massive beer with more character than is good for it.

Aroma is fruity and floral, roasted malts and caramels, candy and spices. Flavors of roasted malts, molasses, coffee, black chocolate, some dry fruits like raisins and plums, and a good note of earth like oak. Good carbonation with a sweet and sourness finish. A persistant earthy oak taste lasting in mouth with a touch of liqueur.
Extremely complex and well ballance, warm heavy beer. To drink very slowly, such a wonderful bevarage. kromamc (83), Italy

Incredibly complex aroma: the first thing that came to my mind was blueberries and cherry syrup; dark caramel malts and peppery spices, wood and sherry. Tastes very sweet, usually people describe roasted malt flavours as dark chocolate, but this reminds me more of sweet milk chocolate. Raisiny malty goodness with a lovely, distinct berry-like fruitiness that is elevated by the alcohol. I’m amazed how clean and accessible this beer remains at 10% ABV. Simply a masterpiece. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 12, 2009 This beer starts off with a really nice nose of yeast, dark fruit, alcohol, and hints of chocolate. Flavors are similar, but not quite as strong or as flavorful as the nose. Overall, a nice beer. mixos (101), Thessaloniki, Greece
