Struise Pannepot

A deep red beer with a huge brown head. The aroma is sweet spicy with notes of ginger and caramel. The flavor is very sweet and again with notes of spices and caramel.

Bottled. Mahogany colour, rich head. Aroma of red berries. Sweet, lightly roasty and rather vinous. Richly malty with velvetty soft mouthfeel. Powerful, yet balanced. A full bodied, intensely aromatic world class beer.

(Bottle 33 cl) Vintage 2004. Pours a clear, warm amber golden with a dense, beige head leaving some lacework. Very complex, vinous aroma with notes of raisins in rum. Sweet and full body with flavours of dried fruit, vanilla and brown sugar - and again a touch of rum. Not overly sweet and the alcohol is surprisingly well hidden in spite of the total lack of bitterness. The mouthfeel is extremely smooth and soft. 140307

Muddy brown colour like chocolate fudge. Large, dense head. Voluptuous aroma - figs, milk chocolate, sherry, alcohol, fruitcake, demerara, double devonshire cream...dessert in a glass. Silky sweet palate - this beer glides effortlessly like Lijiang Yinjiu. A sensual combination of the softest Belgian chocolate, the sweetest dates, whisky nectar - the lush maltiness of Ardbeg without the phenols. Pannepot is evocative - the guilty euphoria of a childhood bowl of chocolate chip cookie dough. This is an artist’s finest hour - a masterpiece.

Bottled. Cloudy red-brown colour with a huge beige head. Acidic aroma with lots of dried fruit, wood, spices, tobacco and chocolate. Very complex sweet flavour, with lots of dried fruits, tobacco and chocolate. Reminds me a bit of Rochefort 10, but this one is sweeter and much better. Thanks Jeppe for getting this beer to Denmark and thanks lachesis for brewing this great beer. Definately one of my favorite beers.
