4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Vintage 2006, enjoyed March 2008. It’s brown/black like a porter and the head is nice, huge, creamy and light brown. The aroma is vinous and complex with a light sweetness, notes of prunes, raisin, roasted malt, caramel and hints of licorice. The body is very full and nice, it has a light sweetness, notes of roasted malt, prunes, raisin, figs, caramel, hints of licorice and a very light bitterness. It’s very, very harmonic, complex and nice!

Super! 12/14/13/14/12/14

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A: The pour is a dark red-brown color with a solid, creamy tan head on top.
S: A really rich fruity, chocolatey aroma. There are a lot of dark fruits and berries, particularly blueberries and cherries. A really strong malt and bread component as well.
T: The fruity and malty sweetness comes out of the gates strong. There is a bit of chocolate, caramel, and toffee. In terms of fruits, blueberries, red grapes, and cherries. A hint of alcohol as the beer warms.
M: A fairly full bodied beer with a really full and creamy carbonation.
D: You can never go wrong with this one, and I’m happy to see how well it holds up to aging. A really fantastic beer and I wish I had bought more.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: DEC 30, 2012 Very dark colored, frothy head. 2005 vintage. Complex aroma: plums, pepper, nutmeg, maple syrup. Very sweet, sugary flavor with nutmeg, plums, apple, pear, cinnamon, chocolate and raisin. Lovely long aftertaste of apple dumplings. The alcohol is there, but fairly well hidden. I like this beer, but I prefer more body and less sugary sweetness, but the complexity is there. Perhaps this beer will further improve with cellaring.
2007 vintage, tasted in december 2012. Bottle. Marky dark brown color carmel and porto in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with caramel, red fruit and an upcoming tartness. Complex. Majestically matured.

Keg at the Craft Beer Co., London. For Ian’s birthday. Pours black with a rich, tan head. Aroma holds plenty of dark malts, some dark, ripe fruits and roasted malts, too. Very sweet flavor, sweet chocolate, tangy fruits, some earth. Quite a bit of dry, roasty malts. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warm finish, dried up a bit, plenty more roasted malts, touches of toast, cocoa. Delicious beer. The menagerie of flavors is amazing.
