Ughsmash (2814), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jul 23, 2005 Updated: Jul 25, 2005 Special thanks to sk8viking for this tremendous brew! 2004 bottle (I couldn’t restrain myself). Deep brown pour that formed a huge frothy tan head when it hit the glass... head receded to about 1/3" and remained there. Aroma was exceedingly sweet with caramel, plums, raisins, anise, chocolate... just wonderful! Flavor was equally sweet and complex. Very full mouthfeel that coated and teased every tastebud. Flavors followed the aroma, with the addition of some spices (similar to coriander) and a bit of hop presence. Alcohol was not really apparent until it warmed the throat on the sweet malty finish. Magnifique!
RomanW70 (270), Providence, Rhode Island, USA Jul 17, 2008 Had many Pannepot’s in Europe, but the one I rated was on tap from Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fŕ in Rome on 7/6. Just a beutiful beer, almost black caramel color with a thick off-white head. Aroma of cocoa, caramel, and dark fruits. Similar taste with additional vineous notes. A beautiful beer that deserves a place along Westy 12, St. Bernardus Abt. 12, and Rochefort 10. Great, great beer. Woodsman52 (17), , Ohio, USA Jul 14, 2008 Malty start and finish. nice dark color. rocky head that dies off sooner than later. coats your entire mouth with a caramel like texture. one of the best brews so far. onlyrocknroll (215), Cork, Ireland Jul 14, 2008 Pours murky black with a medium head. Dark fruit aroma with raisins and aniseed. Toasted malt flavour with more dark fruit and a gentle spice finish. Soft and full body. Very nice, complex and elegant. Borresteijn (55), Amstelveen, Netherlands Jul 14, 2008 Bottle @ Café Gollem. Murky brown with a lively head, gushes out of the bottle. Lovely smell of chocolate, ripe fruits, some roasted malts and yeast. Flavour is rich, brown sugar, caramel, fruity and a bit sour, with an alcoholic sweet and a bit sourish finish. Nice creamy and soft mouthfeel. stefanje (476), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Jul 13, 2008 11 oz bottle from I don’t know where (its been in my cellar a while). Batch #4? Pours a dark brown color with a small tan head. The aroma was strong with dark fruits, roasted malts, cola, coffee and dust. The flavor is incredibly rich with more of the same, I get a particularly big cola taste. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. The Finish is incredibly long with a bit lingering sweet fig and dates. Overall: This is gonna’ make my top ten list, its easily one of the very best beers I have every tasted.
